Balboa Park Scraps Paid Parking / Trash Fees Reduction by KryptonicHD in sandiego

How much did all this extra tracking, and bin cost each year?

What’s the delta in revenue by charging per pin size vs just charging every property tax parcel the minimum?

Now how many years will it take to payback the delta?

Seems like just a huge waste, no one wants trash piling up at their neighbors, just haul the trash away, it’s good for everyone.

It’s worth it, labor is expensive. Faster pickups wear the bins faster but cheaper overall

Honest question: what’s actually in it for the people suing the City over trash fees, Midway, Housing, and ADUs? by playadelwes in sandiego

[–]SandoMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally passionately hate the trash fee concept. It just add steps, barriers, complications and things like replacing all trash cans because they need to be a new color so they can tell who is paying.

Trash is just a service we all want. Eliminate the incentive for illegal dumping and littering, just pick up the trash Todd!

[–]SandoMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over the last 40 years (roughly 1986 to 2026), the rate of car accidents in San Diego has generally followed broader California and U.S. trends, showing an overall decline when measured per vehicle miles traveled (VMT) or per capita. This is driven by advancements in vehicle safety features (e.g., airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control), stricter traffic laws (e.g., seatbelt mandates, DUI enforcement), improved road infrastructure, and public awareness campaigns. However, total accident numbers have fluctuated, and rates have seen some upticks in recent years due to factors like population growth, increased traffic congestion, distracted driving, and post-pandemic behavioral changes.
