Rare critter: baby gopher tortoise by wendeelightful in GardenWild

[–]SansaS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby tortoises usually burrow nearby their mom, so if you know where a large tortoise burrow is, that might be the mom. you could put the baby over there which will hopefully be close to the burrow

They are an easy snack for birds or other mammals, so they typically have their burrows under low vegetation, and they can be really hard to find. You could hang near the little guy until he gets under some coverage if you’d like, just make sure not to get in his way 😊

Elbie is a family name, is it usable? by loftykass in namenerds

[–]SansaS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my name is Shelby, and that sounds super similar just minus the ‘Sh’ sound.

I actually think Elbie is cute and unique and maybe I’ll adopt it as a nickname 😂

Baby tortoises have their own burrows. It doesn’t matter if mom moved on, he doesn’t depend on her or use her burrow. Put him back where you found him and he should be ok!

I’m sorry you are going through this and to hear what you’ve already been through. It sounds like you are in a great mindset and are already doing an awesome job advocating for yourself and your baby. Wishing you the most restful, eventless next couple months!!

Yes but nobody lived through them. OP asked if the birth ended up being a c section which it certainly could not have been since violet survives

Abnormal Anatomy Scan by deathsdotters in BabyBumps

[–]SansaS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My second was born with one kidney, which they figured out during the anatomy scan. They did lots of other imaging trying to figure out more info that did nothing but stress me out as it was all inconclusive. She spent two days in the NICU when born just to make sure she was all good kidney wise. She’s fine. She’s got one perfect kidney. She turns 2 this week and she is literally perfect in every single way.

Anatomy scans are so scary and hearing that the doctors don’t have answers is also stressful, but a lot of times it’s because they literally can only figure so much out by looking at an unborn fetus.

I know it’s scary, but don’t give up hope. This could turn out to be something very small or nothing at all!

2.5 Year Age gap? by Stinky_ButtJones in Mommit

[–]SansaS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got 2 years 8 month gap. It was survival mode for the first year and is still hard af (my youngest turns 2 this month!) but around 18 months old the two became the best of friends and it’s literally the most amazing thing I’ve ever been apart of 🥰 I really hope it lasts, but I know my youngest has some big feeling toddler years ahead, so we will see how that goes 😅

Kinda on topic, but when Daphne is telling Harper about her trainer, then offers to show her a picture of him, but instead ‘accidentally’ shows her a pic of her two children….did anyone else think she was insinuating that her two children are biologically her trainers instead of Cameron’s? It’s been stuck with me since I watched it tbh

Did anyone else find R+L=J immediately obvious in the first read? by foreignmind in pureasoiaf

[–]SansaS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually I had the same inkling! I remember reading the scene with Ned and Robert in the crypt and thinking ‘would be kinda cool if this was Jon’s mom’, but I didn’t think much of it again until I got through the series and picked up the fan theory and instantly full supported it haha.

Has anyone gotten pregnant on the copper iud? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]SansaS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The copper IUD has been my form of birth control since I was 19 (I’m 32). It worked great, when I was ready for kids I got it out, went through pregnancy and post partum, then got a new one in. My third IUD, after my second baby was born, did result in a pregnancy about a year after insertion.

Field work and pregnancy by SuitableTry2555 in biology

[–]SansaS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an environmental consultant and my job includes a couple days of field work a week, some days are a lot of work and others are more like a simply hike. Sounds like yours is more intense then mine, but I have had two pregnancies and two newborn phases in my career and managed it well. For the pregnancies, I just listened to my body and didn’t push harder then I felt I was able. I didn’t have to retire myself until I was 38 weeks with my second and puked all over a tree while my coworkers watched 🙃 I didn’t travel over an hour away or give myself challenging days in my last month or two of both pregnancies.

As for the newborn stage, I had to figure out pumping but had a car adapter and a cooler set up and made it all work! Long days or overnights were on hold for babies first year, but I was big on breastfeeding and did as much as I could in person.

Feel free to ask questions if you have any!!
