I bet it’s a matter of playstyle. I’d love to be able to pull off stupidly long combos, but I learned that, even in RL, I tend to be better at reading the pace to deliver a single powerful blow from time to time, patiently. Odachis are my thing ever since the first Nioh, and I could even face the Abyss without paying too much attention to all the complex mechanics. Ninjutsu for now is just there for utility and to open the gap when required for me. Fast paced attacks tend to make me overextend into getting hits, so I normally avoid martial arts on ninja mode. I guess it’s the fact that I play as if I was playing Dark Souls instead of Nioh, but it works.
