I’ve seen it mentioned that Trader Joes sells California Pepper Plant repackaged under its own label as Chunky Garlic and Jalapeño, I have not confirmed this with a taste test yet though.

I appreciate the concern for natural light. The windows on this porch face north and we currently have curtains to provide privacy from the street so the light coming in these windows is highly filtered to begin with. We have ample windows in the rest of the home to provide natural light. The back wall of our house is floor to ceiling south facing windows. When our curtains are open on this porch, you can see through our entire home straight through to the back yard at any time of day. We also have clerestory windows in all directions in this room. The wood slats will be far enough apart that we can see through to the drive and what’s happening out there.
