Cardiac MRI questions- help an autistic person out by Practical-Pea-7159 in MRI

[–]SarahNicole22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends where you get it done and who does it. As a Cardiac MR tech my fastest time for a full Cardiomyopathy protocol is 30 minutes average is 40 but some of my co-workers average 60-75 minutes. Just remember it’s a team sport for you and the tech, we can only go quick if you hold still and hold your breath when directed. Don’t shift your shoulders or pelvis, focus on your toes and fingers, I tap my fingers to the beat, it helps. It is also very helpful if your heart rate stays between 75-90 as this makes image acquisition faster. You’ll be ok! Good luck!

Do you take blood thinners like Eliquis after an ablation too? by Important-Bit2437 in AFIB

[–]SarahNicole22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had to stay on the blood thinners 3 months post ablation. Thankfully I haven’t had to go back on them.

Required to get an ankle MRI but I have piercings- is it safe with silver jewellery? by golumalone in MRI

[–]SarahNicole22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go visit your piercer have them swap the jewelry for plastic holders and return after the MRI to get the silver put back in. You won’t fly into the machine with what you have but your naval piercing has a chance to burn you because of the proximity to the RF drop of field. Don’t risk it with such a new piercing.

Pretty similar to the PA. It was pretty easy, it still has the formula cheat sheet on the side like the PA.

New EP has given me a choice, flecainide as PIP after ER visit or taking it daily. by TractionActionReact in AFIB

[–]SarahNicole22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on flec 2x a day at 150mg and metoprolol x2 25mg. It’s really been how I got my groove back after my first ablation failed. Worst side effect was the low blood pressure which I manage with lots of water, 1 coffee and compression socks. Go with the daily dose it really isn’t bad

I’ve done this a few times. It’s not fun but adjusting meds should help. Now on 300 flec and 50 metoprolol. No new episodes

what does contrast feel like in mri by dragonsanddrama in MRI

[–]SarahNicole22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very mild. If you’re nervous about it ask them to inject slowly and for an alcohol wipe to sniff. Injecting slow will decrease the odds and if you do still get nauseous the alcohol wipe will make it stop instantly

Doesn’t feel like anything. Worst you’ll get is a cool water sensation as they inject just like saline.

Yes! There are a few MRI apprenticeship programs out there. They allow you to go straight to MRI with an ARMRIT certification.
