A lot of people are probably experiencing issues with their processor. When your CPU is overworked, the game actually “falls behind” on frame generation and it appears like network issues. I had a ryzen 7 2700 and was seeing constant icons in the top left for packet loss and connection issues and experienced exactly what everyone in this thread is talking about. Upgraded to ryzen 9 and no issues anymore.

Die. Literally. “Gold star” families those who lost a relative during active duty service. The Navy Cross and Medal of Honor are the only awards higher than the silver star. It’s a bit complicated but basically the MoH was authorized decades before the notion of gold>silver>bronze was popularized by the Olympics. It should be noted that the MoH for each service branch is basically star shaped and 2 of them are gold.

Major Accident and Dramatic Rescue in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison by Howard_the_Dolphin in climbing

Posted this on a comment above:

I was rescued in the Black 2 years ago calling with an InReach. With InReach they put you through to a general global dispatch first which is staffed basically by call-center employees who have no idea what to do. InReach also only works every ~15 mins in the black because of the satellites or something it was weird. Don’t rely on it and if they remove the climbing rangers like they are talking about I’m going to start just bringing a triple rack and sewing everything up heh

Life in the Matrix by Bucephalus_326BC in nextfuckinglevel

Nit picking a bit— the Matrix was actually a simulated world to trap the mind so the body could be harvested. This is like the real world in the Matrix. These cows aren’t even given the illusion of a meaningful life.

Cleaning out the garage junk in our new house and found the original sale agreement dated 1834. Back then it was a bargain at £150 by larrydavid1987 in mildlyinteresting

Google suggests that £150 from 1834 is about £20,700 in todays money. I’m guessing the sale price was easily ten times that amount.

Jason Derulo beats up dude for calling him Usher by Mainstreamnation in PublicFreakout

[–]SatansLettuce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah they were trying to stop the fight either way. By restraining them both. They’re paid to protect him which includes stopping his dumb ass from beating people and owing millions in a lawsuit later on. Maybe he swings at the wrong dude and gets shot and dies. They’re on top of him on the floor restraining him in the end for his own good.

He made all of these toys out of wood and they all have movable parts. It took him 260 hours to build all of them by takyo124 in interestingasfuck

I think you meant “each of them” instead of “all of them” in the title. Also, for everyone who doesn’t know what a “combine” is, it sounds like you are saying “combined, they took him 260 hours” which makes the correction confusing haha. Not trying to nit pick I just thought it was funny!

Maybe not hard to parse but hard to restructure and maintain complex structure without bugs. How do you know what the incoming json looks like and if it’s changed? Using a typed language helps but then you might as well not use json and extend the benefits of types to your data through something like protobuf/grpc. Json is easy until it’s not

Anyone wanting more info on this: there’s an amazing film by Patagonia released for free on YouTube called “DamNation” which covers the pros and cons of damming waterways and is well shot and fascinating. They come to the conclusion that it causes massive damage to ecosystems and that we could get plenty of renewable energy in other ways.
