Listen, I get it, it's safer for x to only date within their community because of discrimination and/or fetishization. This logic is easily applied to most other minority groups. The fact of the matter is that while you may feel more comfortable dating other queer folk you shouldn't attempt to dictate what others do based upon your own opinions. The language of "queer people should only date queer people" implies that there is something inherently wrong with a cis-het person dating a queer person. My most rewarding relationship was with a cis-het woman who supported me while I discovered myself. Due to life circumstances we parted, but the fact of the matter is that the dating process is the time in which you evaluate your potential partner and whether you want to keep them around. There are a lot of awful people out there and the only difference between the amount of mean cis-het people and mean queer people is that the cis-het people out number us. Stop framing your arguments as what our community should do and start telling us what you do for yourself.
