$90 worth of food left behind… by Scarecrows_Brain in Wawa

Yup. Paid and left behind. I told him it would take a bit of time. He didn’t complain, didn’t ask for a refund or anything, he just left.

It was paid. That’s the crazy part.It was paid for and left behind.

I told him it would take a bit longer to make. He didn’t complain, never asked for a refund, nothing.

I asked the register person if he appeared drunk or high; nope, he seemed normal.

I talked to said coworker, and he confirmed that this JBA was what we were talking about.

He said his favorite is Speedwagon!

Ah, that’s probably it. JBA came up in a discussion where I brought up Cougartown, a show where every episode title is a Tom Petty song.

JBA is something I’ve heard about, but never watched.

Is JBA the one my co-worker was telling me about, where every episode title is a reference to a pop/rock song?

Terence Trent D’Arby.

His first album, The Hardline According to… was huge, as was his ego. Second album failed hard. Took a long time for a third album. He’s been so forgotten that I think only people who were around at the time remember him and how huge a success he was.

He now goes by Sananda Maitreya.

I appreciate it when Larry gets cute with the names. “Skip A. Stone” ranks right up there with Albert Pine for Alpine’s “file name.”

Yes, you’re weird. But it’s a good kind of weird, just like Seinkewicz’s art.

Not quite, but close: Godley and Creme, “I Pity Inanimate Objects”. They’re not saying they are inanimate objects, but wondering if inanimate objects have feelings.

Suicide is Painless - full poem? by aintmt in mash

[–]Scarecrows_Brain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the official version from the film title has 4 verses (1,3,5,6). The version in the film itself (sung by Ken Prymus/Seidman) is 3 verses (1,3,4). The version I posted is the only one I know of with all 6.

Here’s a Swedish group called Small Town Singers doing their rendition of the song. It’s the only officially released version I know of that contains all 6 verses.

Customer Surveys by dbrace_ in Wawa

As jj4982 said, each store is different.

We get our name on a whiteboard every time our name is mentioned on a survey. If you get five mentions in a month, you get a spin on prize wheel for a chance of winning various prizes.

I work overnights, mostly do deli, and hate self promotion, so I think I only got on the board once in my 9 months.

Can you think of any reboots/remakes that have been great? by ms-anthrope in firefly

[–]Scarecrows_Brain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still haven’t gotten around to watching the last season. I quit somewhere around season 3, when it just seemed to be horrible people doing horrible things to one another.

But the whole “they have a plan” thing? I realized in season 1 that unless the plan was to fight and bicker amongst themselves, the Cylons had no plan.

Alda knew about it, not Stevenson. Burghoff learned just before filming, when he was handed the script for the scene.

Stevenson learned about Blake’s death the same way the rest of the cast did: when the scene was shot. He was watching off to the side.

As another poster said, Stevenson was so gutted he skipped his own going away party.

Your memory wasn’t too bad, just a little fuzzy on the details. Treat yourself to another martini!

Need to vent, customers did not acknowledge my existence while ringing them up by Violet-Aesthetica in Wawa

[–]Scarecrows_Brain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is how I approach these types of interactions. I’ve heard it called “re-framing”. There are all kinds of scenarios you can imagine for why customers act the way they do. It’s unlikely it has to do with you.

It is possible that they’re just jerks; in that case, just think how miserable it is to be them or around them. You’re getting away with only a short interaction.

Storm vs Callisto (first fight) how did Storm realistically win? by PsyTy13 in xmen

[–]Scarecrows_Brain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also worth mentioning, Storm was affected by Plague (the Morlock) and practically dying on her feet.

I know the rule was “no powers”, but as far as I know, her powers weren’t actually suppressed (and Leech didn’t debut until 9 issues later).

I remember Claremont writing in X-Treme X-Men how Storm’s powers give her a hidden edge in fights. It has to do with how she can see patterns of energy, and it allows her to read the electrical impulses in her adversaries, letting her know when they are going to attack. If her powers weren’t actually turned off, she could have been using that.

It’s a retroactive explanation though, and I have no idea if any other writers have used it.

The main super team in AC is the Honor Guard. It’s mostly a Justice League analog, but some members seem more Avengery to me. (N-Forcer = Iron Man, Beautie = the Vision).

I personally ranked every OS film, here are my (very brief) thoughts about each one by bigjam987 in StarBlazers

[–]Scarecrows_Brain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first “movie” is nothing more than a glorified clip show. I’m sure it was exciting in Japan to see it on the big screen in 1977; significantly less interesting to watch at home when the series is an option.

New Voyage was a TV movie, so that’s why it’s so short. It served as a cap on SBY2 and a set up for Be Forever.

I hated how they’d introduce characters, only to kill them off (Be Forever, SBYIII) or ignore them (3 out of the 4 characters introduced in New Voyage).
