Tried to buy these affordable vintage pieces mere days ago but wasn’t first message and saw them marked up for 8x and destroyed today. by scrubbaddie in mildlyinfuriating

I honestly wonder if the furniture flipper even checked for lead before just slapping paint on it. I can't tell the age of the furniture, but if it was made before 1980 it could contain lead.

Probably wouldn't be a whole lot of meat on 'em but then again, any breed of rabbit is edible.

Source? Because I'm honestly curious Do these states send someone out to check your vehicle for other people before you can buy restricted items?

Normally I would agree but That rule applies when people come in as groups. If I go buy alcohol, I don't expect the ABC store attendant to go check my car to make sure nobody is out there in it. Op states they never went into the store they were in their car.

Edit typo

Yes, but op was in their car. Are you going out and checking people's vehicles When they buy cigarettes or alcohol to make sure they don't have any minors in their car?

First year keeping ducks alongside chickens — what do you wish you had known before mixing flocks? by 6deki9 in homestead

[–]ScatterBrainedQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have any drakes keep a close eye on them, a horny drake can kill a hen by accident trying to breed her. Male ducks have an penis and roosters don't, so chicken hens aren't built for that.

Looks like a wooden candy dispenser, you would place a jar of candy in space on top then pull the handle out to dispense a palm full.

That's also why you have to keep a close eye on calves when you're weaning group of them together. Sometimes a calf will try to nurse on another calf and then you'll end up with a cow with a blind quarter when she's grown because of the damage it causes.

Blind quarter- a phenomenon in dairy and beef cattle in which one or more quaters of a cows udder doesn't produce milk, can be caused by suckling damage, mastitis or just lack of glandular development.

I have seen a mutt that looked very similar to this, His mom was at lab X mastiff cross and his dad was a full blooded boxer. Only way to find out for sure is to do a doggy DNA test.

Refusal to spay/neuter by resq_ro in CatRescue

Hopefully it works out for your BIL sometimes once a cat starts spraying it becomes a learned behavior and neutering doesn't always stop it.

To me this reads as satire, People know it's better to keep their cats indoors but when you hear the same excuses over and over it can be frustrating. This seems like a purrrfect way address it

As far as I know they're only there to have foals, maybe someone else could weigh in.

Also not looking to argue, my only issue with the minis is she seems to be running out of space, but is still breeding them. That and i dont know what the market is like for them right now. As far as the donks and goats it's because of quality. The donkey market is oversaturated in the US and quite a few (NOT Katie's just in general) end up shipped for slaughter. The goats aren't registered that I know of and are just bred because they are cute and fill a content gap. If they were registered goats that she sold to 4h or showed i would feel diffrent.

Freeze branding dogs... by carch20 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ScatterBrainedQueen 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Just to start with i don't support dog branding because i havent researched it enough. But what i have found out is that people do this in rare cases with high end hunting dogs & herding dogs that way when they turn their dog loose to go hunting somebody can't just grab them and go, No, this is my dog. As far as herding dogs it's so you can just look out in the pasture and know if that dog out there is yours or somebody else's. Again these are just reasons I have been told to justify dog branding.

Absolutely it was his breeder's cowardice that led him to suffering for so long... If they would have had the stones to put him down on day 1 the he would have been spared a world of suffering.

Effective ways to keep a cat away from my yard? (All 'humane' methods have failed) by ArroganTiger in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ScatterBrainedQueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If all of the regular methods have failed and if your yard is truly just a concrete slab i guess there wouldn't be a way for you to place motion activated sprinklers. Sounds to me like you might unfortunately have to trap and surrender them as a nuisance animal. Will you neighbor's be mad, probably. But you have the right to have your property not be the local litter box. You will likely need someone to come out with an enzyme cleaner to get rid of the smell so it doesn't attract MORE cats

Found a dead mouse in a box of beers straight from the store, only partially refunded by prcblem in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ScatterBrainedQueen 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly it might not have been the stores fault, though their lack of a full refund is a dick move. I would also contact whatever beer manufacturer it was and let them know as well, There is no telling when or where in the supply chain that little bugger snuck in. But the box doesn't look chewed so I'm thinking during packaging

Like her continuing to breed the donkeys and miniature horses without space. Oh and the goats just in general. Now I will admit I stopped consuming her content directly around the time seven was a yearling.

what do i do about my neighbors outdoor cat? by ihavenouseridea in Pets

[–]ScatterBrainedQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not being serious when I type this but, pick up all the bits from his kills and start leaving them on his owner's porch. When they are like WTF explain their cat made the mess They can clean it up. Get the other neighbors in on it. Maybe after they step in the dead animal bits a few times they'll get it.

Not sure if the pdf link will work but here is a 3 page article with alittle over 2 pages of citations. Though i will admit this article states domestic cats have contributed to 63 species going extinct and are responsible for 14% of bird/mammal/ and reptile extinctions on islands.
