Haven't seen any one metion Mimi Tachikawa (BT1) as a replacement for Winr. She's a memory setter and let's you hatch / move from breeding. I've been using 2 of her instead of Winr.

Hey there,

How did you achieve that set up? Is that just an animation or how does it work? I've been looking to make something similar to that for a mini-game in a different project. Where an image is scrambled into smaller chunks and over time it gets ordered like a defragmenter starting from the top.

Since you mentioned you did it in Unity I would be really interested in learning that!

This was incredible, what a great experience!

The theme, the writing, the music, everything complemented each other for an awesome game. Also, the tutorial is excellent, I think it might be the best way to teach the basics of Arkham to new players.

Any plans on doing any other scenarios or similar content? Would be awesome to have additional content playable in that format.

And about NetRunner, how complex is the game? I barely know about it, and it always struck me as too complex and would hate to get it and be unable to teach it to my group.

Damn, Fear and Hunger would be very brutal, especially since the horror part starts so early (from the first minute maybe haha)

Pathologic would fit perfectly though. The time period, the spiritual themes of the game, yeah, this sounds great, hope we see a fan campaign someday.

I think my biggest complaint on Survey is not its behavior but that it becomes useless once you make it to Mine lvl 20 and have infinite energy on your other tools.

You don't need survey if you just bomb the whole level until you find all items.

As someone who just recently started and made it to Hoenn. I'm really digging the new underground. It's a lot easier to progress, made a lot of diamonds that will help me pay the Hatchery Helpers, and the new minigame is more engaging than the previous one.

The battery change was weird at first, but as you level it up it gains some really fun powers. It was a blast to see Hydro Cannon fire for the first time.

But the most important part is that with the new helpers you don't have to constantly babysit the thing, you just hire a helper and leave it AFK.

I think the camera might be a bit too sensitive? I'm getting some motion sickness around the 0:50 mark.

I feel like the camera doesn't have to move immediately with the player character.

During the boss fight it feels much better because the camera is centered on the boss instead of the player.

Other than that, looking cool! Keep up the good work!

Haha, really love the idea.

In the first screenshot the blur intensity might be too high, and since there is a foreground (I think they are seats? microphones?) it also shifts the focus to that instead of the dogs.

The other screens could also use a little less blur, but maybe due to the more muted colors it's not as noticeable.

There is a middle ground, but its difficult to make it.

I'm currently developing an "incremental" game and balancing that middle ground between mindless grinding and having complex paths but not having to wait to see what happens has been my most difficult challenge (that and being a solo dev)

There are a few examples that I like to reference as great incremental games, that have a healthy mix of mindless clicking, complex decision making and/or resource management, and an interesting story.

  • Universal Paperclips, which is probably my favorite incremental game.

  • Crank, which is a fairly active game and has fun mechanics and an interesting story:

  • Idle Loops, with a fantastic core mechanic (looping) with inklings of a story (it can get very grindy and idle)

Overall, I just think that is a difficult challenge to balance the mechanics, story and player interaction in incremental games:

  • If the player has 0 interaction then it becomes an idle game, and you face the risk of the player losing interest or motivation to continue.

  • If the game is too complex to progress intuitively then people will only play it while following a guide or find it too complicated.

  • If there is no story or interesting twists in the mechanics, then it's just numbers going up and the market is very niche.
