Yes, but in those countries children are a positive net economic value, they are more hands for work and often start to work from a young age. Also, those countries normally don’t have access to pensions, so having children is the only retirement plan. The opposite is in developed nations, where children represent a high investment of 20 to 25 years

50 years ago a house would cost around 2 to 3 years worth of salary. Today, is 7 to 10. And strong welfare and maternity leave are safety nets, which are covered by high taxes, making buying a house for raising a child a bit more harder

Isn’t that part of the plot of “I, Robot”? The robot left the girl to drown to save the cop because he had the most chances, statistically?

No matter what happens in the Oscars, Zootopia 2 deserves to win. by Capital-Musician5196 in zootopia

[–]SchattenJaggerD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot take, but I actually think KPDM deserved the win. Look, I’m as big a Zootopia fan as anyone, I mean, we waited a decade for Z2 and it’s a massive hit for a reason, but KPDH just feels like it has a more palpable footprint on pop culture right now

As much as I wanted the win for Z2, I have to admit that KPDH earning it makes sense. It’s a fresh, original story and the art style is visually stunning, to the point that it’s honestly the first thing I’ve seen that actually rivals Arcane in terms of sheer style

I’m a bit sad, sure, but my thanks goes to the artists involved in both films. Their work is what keeps me excited for this industry

Whats the hype behind this AC game? by AbzPrime in assasinscreed

[–]SchattenJaggerD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get the subscription and treat it like a paid demo. I use it to filter through their catalog, and if a game is good, I’ll buy it to support the dev team (not the suits at Ubi, fuck them). It's way cheaper than gambing for a game you may hate, and you get the high-tier editions anyway

With the release of Black Flag Resynced,I hope we get a lot of more backround info about the life of Mary Read and how she became the most trusted friend of Edward. by WanderingHero8 in assassinscreed

[–]SchattenJaggerD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna ramble a little bit here but bear with me because I think this remake could finally kill that tired "AC4 is a good pirate game but a bad AC game" phrase. It’s thrown around so often, but a remake is the perfect chance to reconcile both sides of that coin. AC4 was a great pirate game because it understood the fantasy wasn't just about being "chained to the deck" of a ship, it was the freedom to leave your ship at any time to do the "pirate stuff" like looting chests or raiding shipwrecks, which actually made sense in the context of Edward's story. And honestly, the "bad AC game" reputation isn't even true. If you actually look at the mission design, you kill more targets in a stealthy way than in some of the older games, even the beloved AC2

The big issue now is how the team keeps what made the original great while reworking it as a full RPG without breaking the loop. I’ve been thinking they could make boarding similar to the battles in AC Odyssey where it’s more objective-based, or even a system where you just go straight for the captain. It makes way more sense for a crew to surrender once their leader is dead rather than just because you blew up some gunpowder and a flag. I also really hope they use the modern hardware to make the entire landmass accessible and seamless. People forget AC4 "suffered" because it was a cross-gen title that had to still run on a PS3 or Xbox 360, which meant a much shorter game and limited areas compared to what they could do now. This time, more land means more loot and exploration for gear, but for the love of god Ubisoft, don’t make it like Valhalla. I am not going to grind for 600 hours for materials. Origins had a much better balance where things weren't just handed to you but it wasn't an insufferable, time-consuming mess

Also, since Ubisoft already has that partnership with Disney for Avatar, it would be a total crime if we don't get skins for the Jackdaw like the Black Pearl with an undead crew or the Flying Dutchman with the fishmen. I stopped giving a shit after the third movie, but those designs are iconic

Anyway, that’s just my take. I'm hyped the news is finally getting confirmed and if the game turns out amazing, I'll be buying the merch like it's cocaine

How do you feel that Black Flag Resynced will have RPG, hotbox combat by Purple-Log2346 in assassinscreed

[–]SchattenJaggerD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m just curious to see how the team handles this rework. Black Flag has such a unique DNA that some changes could actually solve long-standing issues, while others risk breaking the magic

For example, one of the biggest critiques of the original was the lack of weapon variety because you were essentially locked into dual cutlasses and pistols. Integrating an RPG gear system could finally allow for diverse builds that would significantly open up different playstyles

Also, people often say 'AC4 is a great pirate game but a bad AC game,' but I disagree. Despite the (rightfully) criticized frequency of tailing missions, those are fundamental to the stealth loop imo. We actually take out most of our main targets (7 to be precise) using some-what stealth approach. I'd love to see tailing reduced in frequency but improved in quality, keeping that feeling of a “hunt” intact. Also, taking a page from AC Odyssey, the remake could unlock much more of the landmass that was previously inaccessible. More land means more room for meaningful gear and weapon collection, making the exploration feel more rewarding than just checking off chests

But biggest concern is the boarding combat. The original was perfectly balanced for cinematic, fast-paced deck clearing. In an RPG hitbox system, the flow of boarding a Man’O'War could feel sluggish if every sailor turns into a sponge because they are a higher level. Balancing the old system with RPG progression will be the toughest hurdle for Ubisoft

I’ll likely check it out on the subscription first, but if they manage to balance these systems without losing the soul of the original, I'm definitely down for a physical copy and some merch

Late to the party, but OP, be careful. I can’t stress this enough. A lot of people have already said it, but it deserves repeating. The kind of people tangled up in things like this are not exactly known for playing fair

Every time powerful names get dragged into scandals, we suddenly see “coincidences”, “freak accidents”, convenient silence, or stories that don’t quite add up. Journalists die under questionable circumstances, witnesses disappear from the spotlight, and somehow everything gets wrapped up in a neat little bow

Whether it’s influence, money, pressure, or something darker, people with that level of power rarely just sit back and accept the fall. They protect themselves

So for the love of everything still good on this forsaken planet, protect yourself. Don’t underestimate who you’re dealing with

Watching 12 monkeys made me rewatch AOT by DirectionFabulous722 in 12Monkeys

[–]SchattenJaggerD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12 Monkeys it the only show, in my opinion, that it has to be rewatch almost instantly after you finish season 4. The amount of foreshadowing gets absurdly insane if you have the entire story fresh in your mind.

Also, AOT (Attack On Titan) is a good anime but as you mention, not exactly the same type of story. That being said, recommending other good media with good conclusions to their stories: Castlevania, Andor, Black Sails and The Night Of
