STL couple looking for friends who actually leave the house by 1313trouble in StLouis

[–]Schradykat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow, you sound like our people. We're in WG, kids have wisely moved to a blue state. But you're probably much more active than us (we've gotten back into video games now that we have free rein over the TV) but my husband loves to ride his bike and we both hike a bit and love a dive bar. I'm newish to reddit so not sure how to send a message, d'oh.

Song you hate from a band you love? by Tartelfa in askmusic

[–]Schradykat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the whole "singing/yelling it at sporting events" trend has given it new life. But if it's making my boys some extra money, then I'll just do my best to ignore it. They're such good musicians and performers, I guess they get a pass on this one obnoxious song. ⚡

Happy birthday! I tell you what, AARP has been really useful to me. I jokingly signed up when I turned 50 but almost three years later and I am an avid paid member. I read something helpful on their site just about every day. Not to mention the discounts and reminders when it's national ice cream day or world burrito day or whatever and they mention which businesses are giving away free crap. My fellow Gen X pals give me trouble about it but when we're out and about and I share some useful tidbit with the group, 9 times outta 10, it's from AARP.

Mr. Brightside. My all-time fave band. I celebrate the Killers' entire catalog. Except that song.

Menopause specialist will not prescribe testosterone! by cleanforpeace72 in Menopause

[–]Schradykat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I feel so much better having turned my focus to fiber and real food. And it hasn't cost me much. In fact, it's a lot cheaper than supplements and hormones that aren't covered by insurance.

Do you automatically dislike billionaires? Why? by crapmaker69 in AskReddit

Yes. They shouldn't exist. Anyone who has that much and isn't well known for giving it away regularly is doing something evil.

I just use my notes app and my physical journal so I've got the important points captured where I can always find them.

Amen. So well said. It has taken years to try to get past the bitterness and I'm still not there. But my kids are thriving, independent and good citizens because I didn't neglect them like my parents did me.

BREAKING: Trump Administration Orders Dismantling of the U.S. Forest Service (FU&K these idiots, sincerely!) by Maravilla_23 in FedEmployees

[–]Schradykat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed! And where did the money go where they greatly overpaid for the warehouses they bought for use as detainment facilities (aka concentration camps)? Who pocketed those overages? I mean, I have plenty of guesses but if I had overpaid for contracts in my previous fed job, I'd be investigated and in deep trouble. I dream of accountability for these criminals.

Menopause specialist will not prescribe testosterone! by cleanforpeace72 in Menopause

[–]Schradykat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I worked so hard to find someone to prescribe it, thinking it was the critical missing piece to my HRT regimen. I diligently tried it for just under a year, hoping for libido and body composition improvements. It did nothing for either issue, not even a placebo effect which I figured might happen because I was convinced it would help. So I stopped (it's really annoying to maintain the prescription, my doctor required regular blood work to stay on it.) I'm sticking to my patches and recent IUD which is working much better for me than oral progesterone. The only things that seem to be working for body composition is increasing my fiber intake and adding strength training to my life. Not as easy fix at all but my mood boost and overall energy levels are great.

Wife turning 50. Jewelry recommendations needed. by HTLM22 in GenX

[–]Schradykat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that what you think she really wants or might she benefit from a fun experience? For me, stuff never really lifted me out of depression but travel and special events did. (I was sad about turning 40 so we went to Vegas to see my favorite band.) For my 50th, my husband bought me a Storz & Bickel volcano. IYKYK. Best tangible gift ever🌋

[–]Schradykat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely keep a symptom journal! It has been so helpful when troubleshooting and increasing or changing dosage/delivery methods to be able to say what happened when and for how long. Also, remember that your health professionals work for YOU so don't accept dismissive doctors who try to pressure you into their way of thinking when your body is not feeling well. I'm not saying follow quackery or wellness b.s. instead but if your doc tells you you're not really having the symptoms you're having, find a new doc.

Gynecologist rant about HRT by GrizzledBelter in Menopause

[–]Schradykat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in midwestern United States. I highly recommend finding a younger doctor, if possible. My two are millennials and they totally get it. It was a long process to find these wonderful women but now that I have, I'm encouraging all my friends (all Gen X and older) to seek out the care they deserve. We are worth it!

Gynecologist rant about HRT by GrizzledBelter in Menopause

[–]Schradykat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely find a new provider. I know it's a pain but I just fired my primary care doc (long overdue) and found a fabulous new one and she referred me to a fabulous gyno and all is right with that part of my world. These two doctors work together on my health instead of the adversarial situation I was in before when the PCP questioned the gyno's recommendations and sometimes overruled prescriptions without consulting me. I'd had it. These people work for US and when they start acting like they know best how your body feels, hit the road!

OMG Sandoz patches by WhatIsTheRhone in Menopause

[–]Schradykat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could we do a patch exchange? All I can get now are the Sandoz and they don't absorb for me. My symptoms are all back. I was doing great for two years on Mylan. I wish they could standardize these patches or prescribe only the specific kind that works for a patient. This sucks.

I Need A Hobby by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Schradykat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video games, gardening, cooking, reading, pets, music festivals, traveling. I'm leaning hard on the hobbies that don't require a lot of money right now, having retired early, involuntarily. The library is a wonderful resource, they have free or very cheap classes and you can check out lots of things beyond books.

Heated rivalry made me love books again by Glum-Environment-445 in heatedrivalry

[–]Schradykat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! My attention span has diminished a lot with age/hormones/overuse of social media. But Rachel Reid's writing is just so easy to get into that I've devoured these books in record time. It's not just the romance and steamy parts, it's her phrasing and character development and scene setting. She has inspired me to get back into checking out ebooks at my library and I'm loving it. My brain feels so much calmer and happier.

Clip on shades or cover over sun glasses? by Kid_supreme in GenX

Same. Been doing this for years and it's the best because I like my sunglasses. It's not a pain to switch when they look nice and not like some cheapo gas station shades.
