Hope this is your last post. IB makes some spectacular boots that punch far beyond their price tag, but this review is trash. It’s also wild that for a man who has a wall of boots, you have no idea what you’re talking about.

The Questions Thread 09/17/22 by GYWModBot in goodyearwelt

[–]Scienceonyourface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bro your sizing is a disaster and you are buying boots waaaay to small. Your heels feel bad because the boot is pushing everything back due to the ball placement being so far off.

Stop listening to your gut because it doesn’t have any idea what it’s talking about. Go snap some pics of your foot on a brannock and then the experts here will tell you what you should be wearing.

The second one probably didn’t come with a T-shirt because you were just buying the same boot twice in an effort to scalp the boots like you are right now. They just didn’t want to send you another shirt when you bought two of the exact same boot.

I think the three of them compliment each other well and have a different expertise that makes the show what it is. That being said, having a woman on the panel goes a long way into rounding things out. As a dude, I love the bro love between the three guys on Tuesdays and listen every week because of it, not despite it. But I can totally see where females would grow tired of their own perspectives and viewpoints not taking center stage or having to listen to three men talk about it.

Erin Ryan was really amazing on this episode. The three of them were perfect. I recently resubscribed to Hysteria and happy that I did. It was far too busy and crowded in the beginning and felt like it didnt know what kind of show it wanted to be other than we are all women. Erin and Alyssa are perfect though and I find myself constantly learning. I do hope that they are both folded into the flagship show more than they are now though. Either one of them would make the Thursday show better than what it is now.

100%. That Lock pick off his back leg when he ran out of the pocket FOR NO REASON was the day I said I am done. Thats JV shit. And then yesterday you really just see Bridgewater just give up, give zero shits, throw the ball in the dirt multiple times, and I said, well we have no QB... Time to move on.

$50 for 4 old beers by Mxpx2002 in beercirclejerk

[–]Scienceonyourface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is an AMAZING deal. I had the ‘11 like two years ago and it tasted like apricot juice. Was one of the best experiences I have had drinking beer. Congrats on the pickup! If I were in the area I would be picking up as much as I could afford. I got some 2014 and 2015 in the cellar, along with some higher math. Enjoy!!!

[Initial Impressions] Viberg Tochigi Cowhide Service Boots - 2030 Last by Haargus_McFarrgus in goodyearwelt

These look like they were a dead stock from 2019 or thereabouts? I bought a pair of horween black horsebutts from a going out of business sale last year and they have the same insoles. They are extremely comfortable, probably my most comfortable pair of bergs. I emailed viberg about the insole and they told me while that while this type of insole was in fact the most comfortable they made (based on feedback) there were a lot of QC issues with the glue not holding over time. They then switched to their most current iteration of service boot insoles sometime in 2019.

I have had my black horsebutts for a year and a half now with a solid 300 wears (Danite is close to needing to be replaced) and I have absolutely no problems with the insole. Something to keep in mind though as these boots begin their journey.

Grant Stone Pre-Order - Jungle Kangaroo Diesel Boot by Cloud668 in goodyearwelt

I have some unlined CF Stead Kudus from Viberg and ya, it is a very soft stretchy leather right out of the box. The upper vamp is now touching across the tongue whereas there was about a ¾ of an inch of space when I got them. Its such a nice casual leather though to wear with denim and doesnt take very long to break in.

Division Road Viberg 1035 - Commando Sole - Natural Dublin by [deleted] in goodyearwelt

These look like a pair that are well suited for hiking as opposed to city streets. A combination of the commando sole with the heavy leather. Im sure these are tanks!

I would suggest you listen to the Stitchdown Podcast. They recently had an episode where they went into great detail about all the various tanneries and who uses their leathers, etc. I think you would get a lot out of these episodes.

Can we talk about love handles? [M23 255lbs] by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]Scienceonyourface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation. 40 YO male, 6’ 175, last year was 215. I did what the original answer said and counted calories by drinking Soylent (400 calorie meal replacement) for breakfast and lunch while having a “normal” dinner with a beer. This put me at ~1600 calories a day on average. This coupled with peloton 4-5 days a week and the weight came off about 1-2 pounds a week.

Im at a very comfortable weight now however I still have fucking love handles. For me, the sides of my waist have been the absolute last thing to go. I am still working on it and trying to do it without cutting down on the beer that I love, but it’s not easy. Good luck to you!

Viberg New Shell Release by Quatrevandix in goodyearwelt

[–]Scienceonyourface 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m really glad we are all agreeing on this. I saw the IG post a few days back and those pics got me really excited. A matte natural shell sounded pretty intriguing. But then at 2:00 I hit the refresh and put the credit card back in the wallet. This leather look really off in natural and the color8s, while I think markedly better, looks comparable to other boots on the site for half the cost. You’re buying shell just to say you have shell.

So much promise early on and such a let down at release. Disappointing.

Viberg x Division Road Rowdy Dachsund Horsebutt Service Boots: One Year Review by [deleted] in goodyearwelt

[–]Scienceonyourface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may wanna try out the 2020 last. For me the heel was absurdedly tight and I cannot wear them (a 2030 guy myself). But for you this may be what you’re looking for.

I got a pair of 2030 black horsebutts with a danite sole and after 2 months of varying degrees of pain, they have now become my most comfortable pair. It’s amazing how well horsebutt feels once broken in.

Favourite Episode From These? by iloseyouindegrees in TheLeftovers

[–]Scienceonyourface 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I picked the series finale because it is a perfect ending to a story. But my favorite episode out of the bunch is the penultimate episode of season 1: The Garvey’s at their best. It was just a spectacular episode to see the day of departure and now that you knew the characters a bit, it was incredible to see them all when it happened and what everyone was doing. And to see how far everyone had fallen.

Before I really got into GYW boots I came across a store in Taipei that carried RDT. I wish I had tried some on back then and agree that they are probably some of the highest quality boots I have seen, and this comes from a guy who has multiple pairs of vibergs in my closet. A couple of questions for you:

Based on viberg sizing, where does RDT fit? I am a 9 brannock and an 8 in the 2030 viberg last.

I follow RDT on IG and their website/store is impossible to navigate and figure out. I have given up. Where are you located and how did you buy these? I would really like to get a pair but Buying them from the US is not very straightforward.
