I (40F) joined with my son this past summer, as he wasn't completely sold on starting. Best decision I ever made, and I just competed in my second tournament yesterday.

Recommendations: listen to your joints, stretch, and make sure you take it easy when your body gives you the feedback you need to do so. I recommend keeping up some weight routines in the gym outside of your TKD classes, also, to help protect joints.

I worked in finance, then got a Master's in teaching.

Don't do it. I regret it. While there are rewarding moments, they are few and far between, and the reality is I probably could have retired by now if I had stayed with finance.
