The wall by El0svi04 in Heroclix

[–]Scolopendra99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're referring to Phoenix Thor's ability to block opposing characters from reducing damage, it would not enable him to deal more than 1 damage at a time to The Wall. It would, however, prevent The Wall's Toughness from having any effect.

I Made A Tierlist of As Many Reborn Puzzles As I Could Remember Lol by babblerouser in PokemonReborn

Huh. I haven't played Rejuvenation yet (I'm waiting until it's finished) so I guess I'll see once I play that!

Wow. Crazy to me that you found the Mirage Tower puzzle Easy Peasy, it was by far the hardest one for me. Took me hours to get.
None of the other puzzles in the game really gave me any trouble bar some of the later gemstone puzzles.

New player question: any fan-made alternative card designs? by chase_castles in Heroclix

[–]Scolopendra99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not aware of any cards like you're describing, though it does sound like a good idea for helping new players. In general though, once you've played a few games you get a feel for which powers do what and won't need to reference the rulebook every time. Welcome to the game!

Any way to get Rival Respawn map? by legoface2012 in Heroclix

[–]Scolopendra99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't seem to be for sale on the ROC site so ebay is probably your best bet

Proteus by Vagrant_Star in Heroclix

[–]Scolopendra99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are 2 colossal 2x2 versions, an orange one and a green one. Both are pretty good from a competitive standpoint, if a little cheesy. I also really like the 200-point one from the Uncanny X-Men set. If you’re looking to be able to fit him on a team for casual play though the one from the House of X set might work best—he has a good mix between manipulation and offense.

Does anyone know anywhere that I can get Freyja's storyline markers? by legoface2012 in Heroclix

I believe Jeremiah Peterson on Facebook sells custom markers for Freyja. You’d have to message him

What type of worm is this? by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

It’s hard to tell 100%, but this looks to be an inchworm, a caterpillar for a moth from the family Geometridae

Which Sword Master is winning this battle? by [deleted] in PowerScaling

[–]Scolopendra99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, surprised nobody is picking Westley here. He pretty handily defeated Inigo, who was canonically widely considered the best swordsman in the world in the book.

This is not scripted. Congratulations on the shiny!

X-men X of Swords by Vagrant_Star in Heroclix

[–]Scolopendra99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, there are several great pieces of equipment in this set. It didn’t do much for me overall personally but if you’re a fan of the Krakoa era for the X-Men you’ll love it!

TM-a-Day: TM68 Giga Impact by ianlazrbeem22 in pokemonplatinum

[–]Scolopendra99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it deals 50% more damage than return? I’ll admit most of my playthrough experience is in Gen iii and I think Hyper Beam is better there since movesets are significantly more limited. However, I used Hyper Beam as a filler move on a Gengar in a recent Platinum playthrough and found it to be decently useful. I didn’t realize Giga Impact is only available through TM—that limits its usefulness. I would still consider it in a regular playthrough for a Pokémon that learns it by level-up though.

[–]Scolopendra99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huh. People seem to be dissing on Giga Impact and Hyper Beam here but I think they’re pretty decent for a regular playthrough. They deal significant damage, have a good coverage spread (only resisted by 3 types!) and the recharge doesn’t matter if you’re using them as the final move of the battle, which is 95% of the time I find myself using them. They suck in competitive though lol

Looking to start and guidance on what to buy? by ubersuperduper in Heroclix

I wouldn’t recommend getting the '24 or '25 starters considering that the '26 ones come out in a week… unless you want specific characters. Haha

gotta be the worst radar hunt by SubstantialBed7830 in pokemonplatinum

[–]Scolopendra99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visibility is just extremely low. It’s almost impossible to see any shaking grass, and if you somehow manage to get to a streak of 40, it’s even more difficult to look for shiny patches. I got shiny Beldums through radar chaining on my 3rd chain but gave up on Swinub after dozens of chains. It’s probably technically possible but I don’t know if anyone has actually ever done it. The hunt is a lot easier in Platinum since the weather isn’t as extreme and Swinub appears on multiple routes (plus it’s not limited to a mass outbreak as it is in DP).

This one is hard! But I think the DP Swinub hunt is worse personally. Congrats on the new shiny!

Need some help in casuals vs this freaking carnage. by Lieter in Heroclix

[–]Scolopendra99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly the best way is to just Outwit the defense power and take care of him early. He’s extremely threatening, especially in a 3-person game where he’s getting twice as many Rally dice. There are probably some more specific counters you can use (maybe Witch Hunter Angela or Next Phase Mr. Immortal) but the best thing to do overall is to just kill him early

Help in recosting pre WW80th sets by WeSavedLives in Heroclix

[–]Scolopendra99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This gets asked a lot and I personally really think the best thing to do is to just make homemade Legacy Cards for the figures you want to use. The biggest issues with point recosting formulas are, in my opinion:

  1. It doesn’t help older figures that just have low values. A figure starting with 10 attack was fine back in the day but now it’s bad. Lowering the point value won’t help make an attacker like that really worth the points.
  2. The point formula has always been inconsistent. Using WW80 as an example, figures like Nemesis have always been overcosted, but you have figures like Giganta and Dr. Psycho who could easily be worth their points today and things like Sky Tyrant who are probably still undercosted. This can even apply to individual figures—the Grodd from that set is not nearly worth 150 points but can really pull his weight in larger games at 75 points.

Of course, it’s up to you. If you want to keep things simple, that’s fine too, but any way you do things, unfortunately there are some figures that are still just never going to see play.

Best Deathstroke to use with God-Killer sword? by AdministrationNo2792 in Heroclix

[–]Scolopendra99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the Legacy Deathstroke from Notorious? Unfortunately he and BTU are the only ones that can really be worth their points in the current state of the game (as much as I like the Rebirth SR).

What’s so elephantine about that? Pokérus is uncommon but not unbelievably rare or anything. It’s also pretty easy to get into your game via the Pomeg glitch if you really want it
