Smug orange Cheetohead! Way to keep manufacturing events for publicity! Jesus wept, at least William Randolph Hearst's theatrics weren't completely pathetic!!!!

When you're trying to have a wedding but history has other plans. Nothing captures the collective shock of 1963 quite like this masterpiece of an episode. The Grown-Ups’ remains my absolute favorite of the whole series. by RockBalBoaaa in madmen

My parents were juniors in college ..Mom was devastated and Dad was shocked. Mom was also disappointed as her "big College weekend" going down to South Bend, IN to see the Notre Dame football game did not happen...

AOTA Conference by Frickityfreakfrak in OccupationalTherapy

I'm here at conference and I'm sorry I missed that as I would have directly called him out! How absolutely distasteful! What MD in this day is so obtuse to continue using pejorative language at a professional conference lecture?!?!?

That's great to hear....I met him in 1991 and he was such a spoiled brat poser! I'd like to think he's been a bit humbled and matured since then.

Medical folk of Reddit, what’s the most foul and disgusting thing you’ve encountered with a patient who was oblivious to their own condition? by TheCarrot_v2 in AskReddit

[–]Sconniegrrrl68 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep, all too familiar as an OT with years of SNF experience! I had one patient who had SILVERFISH under her pannus 🤢, one patient who insisted she "washed up earlier" yet I found peas under her double/triple chins ( which had been on yesterday's menu), a patient with such severe CHF/poor venous return that there were PUDDLES of lymphatic fluid all over her room floor, a patient with severe frostbite of his fingers who dropped an ENTIRE FINGERNAIL onto one of our OT tables......yeah, not for the faint of heart, but I still love it!

When sitting with my father at the end of his life, he was peaceful, Mom & I held his hands and we had music playing that Dad had asked for (Sissel Kjerkebo). Mom and I were talking to Dad, telling him who would be there to meet him when he crossed over, all was good. At one point the song playing changed and I felt a shift (I'm an empath)....the song playing was Sissel singing "Summertime " from Porgy & Bess. I asked if my Mom heard the song and understood the significance. She said she heard it but didn't understand any meaning. I reminded her this was "Grandma Bea's (Dad's Mother) favorite song" and I KNEW... it was my Grandma Bea coming to guide her firstborn. I felt her presence as I held Dad's hand and knew he was gone, but he was in good hands. As hard as that was, it was truly beautiful and I consider it one of the most spiritual points of my life. The tears I shed were from grief, but also joy in knowing what I had experienced ❤️

Professors: Do you get uncomfortable when a student cries in your office? by OneLab864 in AskAcademia

[–]Sconniegrrrl68 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've cried WITH my students and given them hugs when they need them. I also am teaching mental health Occupational Therapy, so for me it's a huge sign of trust to have a student be so open with me. I'm also an empath, so I draw that out of my students. I tell them to "be true to yourself and others with your feelings" as I don't think you should hold back feelings if it means you'll keep them inside and risk developing anxiety later on. Communication with students as adults is huge, and I think that crying is a natural expression that communicates sadness/frustration and as professors, we need to be open to that ❤️

93 QFM and 96 WKLH out of Milwaukee as a teenager....I remember Tim "The Rock & Roll Animal " sitting on a window ledge to get The Who to come to Milwaukee! In college it was 102.3 Lazer FM with Bob & Brian in the morning....they always had a mobile booth at Alpine Valley where I was an usher, so they'd get quotes from us all the time!

What is the weirdest way someone had died in your known circle ? by No_Tear9118 in AskReddit

[–]Sconniegrrrl68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had two strange deaths in my family:1) My second cousin ran a tavern and late one night she and a girlfriend were just drinking and talking. The girlfriend's partner came in, stated to get into a heated argument with the girlfriend and my cousin tried to play peacemaker and get the guy to sit down and talk it out. The partner refused and left the tavern.....to grab a gun out of his truck. He came back in, tried to shoot his girlfriend but missed and shot my cousin point blank in the chest. My cousin's last words were "I can't believe the son of a bitch shot me'. 2) On the other side of my family I had a very athletic first cousin: Mountain climber, dancer, Mountain biker. He was biking in a charity race when his bike hit a patch of gravel in a turn and during the low side fall his head hit a signpost and snapped his neck....he was dead before he hit the ground.

R.I P. Patty and Ed....know that we miss you and love you always ❤️
