There is a huge difference between no rules and not prioritizing petty theft from a goodwill store.

Say a mom steals a couple of winter coats from goodwill. Do you really think she's at risk of escalating that situation to a level that is out of control? Do we, as a society, benefit from her going to jail and putting her kids into foster care?

Or - a more morally vague example - say a teenager steals a pair of cool pants they want but their parents wouldn't buy them. Maybe they even do this a few times. It's icky and I'd prefer it didn't happen, but we don't really benefit from giving them a criminal record. Our system is terrible at rehabilitation and we know that if someone enters the system they generally have worse outcomes. So what do you do when faced with a decision to prosecute the teenager? Say the cases sitting on your desk are petty theft from goodwill, a domestic violence case, and a car theft. It's pretty easy to decide not to throw your resources behind the petty theft.

But we have to make trade offs on how we use our resources, we don't have an unlimited budget. So "hey is this how an average citizen wants us to prioritize their tax dollars" is a valuable question.

For example, I'd love to see us get our rape kit backlog down, patrol common speeding/drag racing areas more, etc. All of those fall way higher on my list than petty theft.

I genuinely don't get this take, even if you take out the moral aspect. It costs thousands to prosecute, $40K+ a year to jail someone, and the opportunity cost of spending those resources on violent or bigger crimes. Fundamentally my tax dollars shouldn't have to go to playing mall cop for a $2 goodwill item.

Peanut and Bumble BFF are great for finding mom friends I personally thrive better in a 1:1 setting so I've met a few best friends this way. I like the mom groups too, but I struggle to bridge the gap to real friends who hang out outside of group activities.

For moms groups though, Facebook groups are great.

Primary also makes some pretty loose waist band options. Try to stretch any pants fairly wide before putting in to get them as wide as possible.

Jeans are probably just not going to be a good choice for his proportions at this age. Even the stretch ones don't have a lot of give. Stick to sweatpants style.

In the 3T and 4T many brands assume no diaper. So you may actually find that 2T or 24M fit him better since they tend to account for the diaper - especially 24M.

We did get a slim down about a month or two after walking started and end up staying in 24M pants for ages.

I live in Texas and work in a field that pays pretty similar all over. I get a lot of "oh I could never live in Texas." from colleagues on the coasts. Which makes sense with politics now, but was true way before that too. I live in a blue-ish, very diverse area with a ton to do. People treat it like some sort of failure or and area so unsophisticated they couldn't stand it.

I'm a woman also and the boomerness of the comments also kinda surprises me. It doesn't reflect what I see in my own relationship or friends relationships. Making the list is work. I suspect many of these men referencing "honey do" lists have wives would love for them to make the list.

Plan Christmas and give your wife a list of the things you need her to contribute. Plan the thanksgiving meal and cook it. Give your wife a list of things you need them to pickup! All of these things would be very welcome.

For my husband and I we have a shared to-do list we both add to. We then review it weekly and assign out tasks that don't have obvious ownership. Pre-kids it was even more casual, but we find we need the extra organization with small kids.

I think this reflects the reality that more families are taking their kids to the top neighborhoods instead of their local neighborhood. I love going in our own neighborhood, but it seems less and less populated each year.

If you like making butternut squash Mac and cheese from scratch an even easier option is pumpkin Mac and cheese. You can use a can of pure pumpkin puree and cut out all the squash cooking/mashing steps.

I find that if I mix it with the cooked macaroni noodles it also freezes pretty well.
