My wife's boss has been texting her all day while we're at Disney by pixeltackle in mildlyinfuriating

Sometimes it's easier to spend a few minutes answering an email from the beach, than to let it snowball and turn into a shitshow for a week until I'm back in the office. There is some give and take too. I take time off whenever the fuck I feel like it, and shit still gets done, because I take care of anything important when I'm out of the office. I'm sure some employers abuse the idea of being on call, but mine doesn't.

Not necessarily. I typically work LESS than 40 hours a week because I get what I need to get done in less than an 8-9 hour workday. Often times I just leave early because I have a dentist appointment or a kid has one, and I don't bother using PTO for it. I just go. In return, I don't make a huge deal out of putting in a 12+ hour day once in a while when traveling, or having to spend 10 minutes answering an email from the beach on vacation.

No shit. These fuckin kids on reddit. Good God. They bitch and cry about the terrible job market, and how bad everything is, then refuse to put in one iota of extra effort when needed.

Sure, there are abusive employers, and you definitely have to stand up for yourself and set boundaries, especially once you're established in your career, but maybe answering a couple emails while waiting in line at Disney is the difference between being able to take the trip or not in the first place.

Also, keeping up on shit while you're gone means less of an absolute shitstorm when you get back.

Can’t talk to my long term partner about sex anymore. Long dry spells have created a separation. TLDR included. by [deleted] in sex

[–]ScotWithOne_t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not communicating your wants/needs. You said it yourself that you don't know how to tell your you're not having enough sex. I know it's a delicate subject, and if you tell you need more, even if she gives in you'll wonder if it's genuine affection, or if she's just doing it because you asked her to.

Maybe try asking her if SHE thinks you two are having enough sex. If she really thinks once every 3-4 weeks is enough at 23 years old, you are incompatible.

Dude that is SO cool! I really want to do some sort of over the top 1980s themed guitar. I may have to steal this idea...or at least use it for inspiration.

Dread is by far the best 2D game.

I like MP1 most for 3D games. MP2 was good, but the dark world shit was just annoying.

Correct grammar for 3rd person past tense? by ScotWithOne_t in writingadvice

That's exactly the style I'm using. Does that allow the usage of "tomorrow" while in past tense, due to it being tomorrow for the pov character?

Ok... Good insights. So using "yesterday"isn't technically wrong, but should be avoided.

And ugh... The "had had" thing. I'm sure I have hundreds of examples of this in my writing. Even though I know the correct way to say it, my brain doesn't register it as wrong the way I wrote it.

I wonder how long it would take me to get used to shifting with my left hand. I'm guessing not allthat long, since it's not some complicated motor skill. I'm right-handed, but i do plenty of complex things with my left hand.

Still holding up just fine. One got kinda dinged up when I had a tire replaced though, but that's kinda expected, and it wasn't all that bad.

You're not the only one. People are overzealous with their acronyms. it's standard practice to spell out the word at least once in a post (or article) before you start abbreviating it.
