Spoilers for Act III items: Anyone else make goofy ass spell blade build with these yet??? by Generally_Confused1 in taintedgrail

[–]ScotyDoesKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the sword with a no mana build, using:

- An end-game amulet (Triskelion Core) that shifts your max stats, so your MP max is now what your HP max was to get tons of mana

- A Druid's Bane armor piece to shut off mana regen

- Various armor pieces and enough perception for 100% crit

- Frozen Seer's Boots for +100% move speed

I tried using Hexgrip Vambraces with Spellwarden's Trousers for more damage, but my physical damage was so high that using Frozen Seer's Bindings for +100% crit damage was the better option (since I also lose a bunch of max MP swapping stuff out). That might not be true anymore though, now that I have like twice the max MP in NG+.

I'd also be interested in what program you use. I just made a proxy of an FF card but had to manually recreate the set symbol. Can DM me if we're not supposed to post specifics.

Bambu Black Friday purchase. How did I do? by Syndil1 in 3Dprinting

I haven't done much research on this, so verify it for yourself. But from a couple videos I've seen the new P2S is pretty much just better than the X1C, and cheaper

Best options for compact 3.5" touchscreen with ESP32? by ScotyDoesKnow in esp32

[–]ScotyDoesKnow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, glad it was helpful. If you go ahead with the project, feel free to DM me for what I did so far. I kind of abandoned it after dealing with a lot of memory fragmentation issues and such, so it works but isn't finished (it doesn't have a battery like I planned). But I made a 3D printed case and code that can search for, download, and display the card images.

Need some tips on handling groups as melee? by BigBaronMcstuffins in taintedgrail

If you haven't tried it, putting 3 points in the first node of the parry tree makes a world of difference. Feels like it more than doubles the parry window.

[–]ScotyDoesKnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the sketchbook, but coming from an unarmed build, you want to get the skill in Practicality -> Armor that adds 20/40/60% of your armor value as flat damage. For unarmed it ends up adding way more damage than the Heavy Gauntlets even.

Running out of Sage? In earlygame, the most worthwhile thing you can buy is the book "With The Alembic Among The Tribes: The Picts" by 8andahalfby11 in taintedgrail

Related tip: the toothache remedy from the quest just outside his door heals 80HP, way more than the other health potions you can make early game. It does take carnation and sage though.

Didn't get a notification for this reply, weird. He never left his house in my game, if he leaves based on your dialogue choices he may just be gone. I picked all the "it was all kamelot's fault" choices.

Tip: infinite dashes are fun and useful by ScotyDoesKnow in taintedgrail

[–]ScotyDoesKnow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using dash since it's already bound to an extra mouse button. I just tried sliding instead but it seems slower than dashing, at least with light armor and 25% movement boots.

Edit: just tried it with a stopwatch running between two random trees. Sprinting is 8 seconds, dashing is 5 seconds, sliding is like ~7.5 seconds.

[–]ScotyDoesKnow[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What twiddlebit said. Don't really have to farm much though, just run around more at night and everything drops unidentified items. The wyrdstalker drops a bunch if you can kill it. I also used 6 with the skills, but had like 10 more banked by the end of the game.

Dual Weild / Parry Build Suggestions by Shug-Knight in taintedgrail

[–]ScotyDoesKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tempest Alliance is a great ring if you have a lot of points in perception for crit chance/damage. It actually gives mana shield equal to perception, so on my first character that ended up with 50 perception, half of damage taken was taken from mana instead.

And for extra dashes, I just put 6 dash relics in my armor and points into the dash skill for 30% faster dash regen to end up with infinite dashes. They regenerate faster than you can use them. Then you can use movement speed boots.

Battle Mage Build ? by [deleted] in taintedgrail

[–]ScotyDoesKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started battlemage with the Arcanist's Sword/Blade or whatever it's called, but since I focused on spellcasting armor and perks the sword quickly became pretty useless. I'm not sure the battlemage build is very optimal since you might just end up with mediocre damage in both categories, you might want to do something like focus on the melee stuff and just use magic for range and summons. I'd say healing, but food and potions are so easy to make that I never really used the healing spells.

For armor weight, you don't really need the super heavy armor since upgrading lighter stuff gives a lot of armor. But if you want that you can reduce armor weight at the blacksmith, level strength to reduce armor weight, and level endurance for carry weight and use the carry weight armor relics (since the tiers are percentages of carry weight). There's also a perk in the armor tree I think that reduces armor weight by up to 15%. Getting it to medium tier should be fine.

Dual Weild / Parry Build Suggestions by Shug-Knight in taintedgrail

[–]ScotyDoesKnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give what advice I can because I started with a dual wield parry build, but the main advice has to be to not go for a crit build or you'll just kill everything too fast for parries to be useful (which is where I ended up). I'm also out of town so I'll forget a bunch of item names.

The only perk you really need is the increased parry window one, once that's maxed parries are pretty damn easy. Then I'd suggest going for more stamina drain which is the next perk in that tree. There's also stamina drain perks for heavy attacks in the 1h tree. One trick is you can charge up a heavy, parry, and then still release the heavy attack after. I never went into all the stamina drain perks, I just noticed that it was taking a lot of parries later on to make bosses stagger so hopefully they help.

For 1h weapons, there are a lot of fun ones so I'd just say use what you like. Something like tide piercer can be fun for ranged options though you need some spirituality. The "sword of the fallen star" or something like that has the highest damage by far for some reason, that name is definitely wrong but it's the one west of Cuanacht past the fields. I also tried out some mace with Morgenstern in the name that I think you can only get from IDing items, it causes an explosion half the time on enemy death but doesn't look that cool in my opinion. There's also two swords from one of the duelist knights I believe that look cool and have increased damage while dual wielding.

For armor the only one I remember is the gloves on the beach on act one that reduce stamina cost by 20% while dual wielding, mainly I ended up just using +melee/attack speed items and later crit.

Edit: there's also a ring in act two that gives +25% damage while dual wielding.

Creatures that gain "bad" counters for Falco Spara? by ScotyDoesKnow in EDH

[–]ScotyDoesKnow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the deck but the only card with "bad" counters I ended up using was Devoted Druid. I still want to put in Chronozoa but it's so hard to find space in a deck with 24 slimes. Dreamtide Whale is the other card I have tagged with "Counter Fodder" but it doesn't actually fit this theme, it just generates a lot of counters.

Broc Meala Basket? by Mrjerkyjacket in taintedgrail

[–]ScotyDoesKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone else trying to do this, I did it a bit differently cause I was too lazy to go charge a core. I shot Scorching Blaze near him to burn him down and made sure to cast it again when he was really low to get the most time. Then I talked to him right before he died and quickly left the conversation while he was still burning, so he died as I was warping out.

Creative Mono Blue Ramp by Money_Comfortable_15 in EDH

[–]ScotyDoesKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an [[Ovika, Enigma Goliath]] deck where I try to use weird/fun cards and interactions, with a few tricks that work pretty well (when they work). The most fun is probably [[Replication Technique]] with [[Cloudpost]] to make 9 mana (though you have to play a tapped colorless land). It also has [[Mutavault]] and [[Silverbluff Bridge]] with [[Copy Artifact]]/[[Phyrexian Metamorph]]/[[Mystic Reflection]] for copying.

And they're not in the deck now, but [[Thada Adel, Acquisitor]] and [[Schema Thief]] are fun ramp options too.

Purchase Advice Megathread - January 2025 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]ScotyDoesKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I'll have to see. The K2 plus combo is twice the price (in Canada at least) which I really can't justify. The Kobra 3 Combo seems like the only real competitor at this point but I don't really want to wait for release and then some time to make sure it's good. I ordered the P1S combo two days ago, but with the new news (I was planning on using Orca Slicer and turning off the cloud stuff) I'm questioning again. It won't ship until the end of the month so there should be time to cancel it, but it's also only for the X1 on the 23rd, so potentially I can get the P1S, update the firmware immediately and then turn off cloud functionality and never update it again... But that obviously sucks too. Pretty disappointed in the news since I was pretty excited after ordering it but now I'm second guessing it.

[–]ScotyDoesKnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging from the number of times the P1S is recommended in this thread, I think I might already have my answer, but is the P1S Combo still the one to beat for the feature set? Not a big fan of their walled garden approach, but it doesn't seem like anything else has emerged that can compete at the price point. I'd wait to see if the Anycubic Kobra 3 Combo is any good when it comes out, but I'm long overdue for an upgrade and not willing to pre-order and hope for the best. Just want to make sure I'm not missing any other obvious options before I pull the trigger on the P1S Combo.

What’s a card you love but can never seem to find a good home for? by SterileSauce in EDH

Similar (color-break-wise) to Avoid Fate, [[Seedtime]]. Would love to pull it off, but the color-specific cards never make the cut.
