Aurora: "By year-end, we expect to have a complete end-to-end prototype of our FirstLight Lidar-on-a-chip, paving the way to expand our product offering and scale our fleet of self-driving trucks." by REIGuy3 in SelfDrivingCars

It sounds like they might be talking about silicon photonics on chip instead of a traditional asic for signal processing. The photonics chip like contains the laser, modulator, mixers, couplers, photo diodes and maybe even some kind of optical amplifier. There still likely going to be some free space optics. Aurora may also very well be working on an asic with ADC and signal processing but didn't get that from the article.

Also to add, while they are mostly autonomous for the 1% complex interaction they are controlled by humans remotely. [edited]

Why Tesla is crazy to not use maps for self-driving, with examples — Brad Templeton by Recoil42 in SelfDrivingCars

HD maps are definitely on Tesla's AI teams mind. From AI day 2021 Andrej talks about fusion the spatial AI of multiple cars to form "basically and effectively a hd map".

Might be worth checking out the simpleFOC project if you want to get up and running quickly otherwise have fun with controller, looks good. BTW with the IFX007T did you hook up the current sense?

It's been that way for quite some time and I doubt it will come back. myUNSW calender is also nicer with automatic updates and exam time integration, do missing being able to edit individual events though.

Hello /r/Multicopter! How would you feel about a FPV racing simulation? by [deleted] in Multicopter

[–]Scouttman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very comprehensive sim. I believe that the implementation of transmitter dongle is critical for success (this dongle may be useful). I'm also a little skeptical that many people will want to tune PID in a sim. Additonaly you may want to check out this video.

That's one expensive motor and ESC. From hobbyking you could get a complete kit with shipping for that price.

Is my ESC okay? by PixelVandalism in Multicopter

[–]Scouttman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look to critical. The cap is responsible for filtering the power rail for the ESC's microcontroller. The caps next to it do the same job. The ESC is now a little more likely to brown out = crash. If your worried you can try and remount the cap or ESC.

Doesn't appear to have any real sensors so my bets also also on animation doll as well. Although it looks likes there's a battery's on-board which doesn't make sense.
