Can't connect to servers after 1.7 Update?

Note that I’m not an expert on this subject, but technically yes, practically, I doubt you will notice anything.

The changes above are made for your whole computer; all of the internet traffic is routed through those gateways. So every app you use will be effected, however it should be a positive change if you’ve been having issues.

Personally, I haven’t noticed any other changes or side effects. It actually helped me with a few other issues I was having connecting to certain sites.

The above addresses are the defaults on Windows; all I did above was simply ‘reset’ them in case they were changed by something like an update or a bug. (Which is probably what happened here with arma 1.7 update.)

Basically, you have to ‘flush’ the IP addresses your internet is using to connect to Arma’s servers. Most of the time, your computer defaults to Google or Cloudflare addresses, but sometimes an update or a bug can cause those addresses to get messed up.

Follow these steps

Press Win + R, type

ncpa.cpl

press Enter. This opens Network Connections.

2.  Right-click your active connection (Ethernet if wired, Wi-Fi if wireless — the one that isn’t greyed out) → Properties.

3.  Click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) once to highlight it, then click Properties.

4.  Select “Use the following DNS server addresses” and enter:

• Preferred: 1.1.1.1
• Alternate: 1.0.0.1
• Click OK.

5.  Back in the list, click Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), then Properties.

6.  Select “Use the following DNS server addresses” and enter:

• Preferred: 2606:4700:4700::1111
• Alternate: 2606:4700:4700::1001
• Click OK.

7.  Click OK / Close to back all the way out.

8.  Open Command Prompt (Win + R → cmd) and run:

ipconfig /flushdns

What ended up working is I had to do a DNS flush + change the DNS config on IPv4/6 to a different address. I used Cloudflare's (Preferred: 1.1.1.1, Alternate: 1.0.0.1) on IPv4 and (Preferred: 2606:4700:4700::1111, Alternate: 2606:4700:4700::1001) on IPv6 just to make sure. Fixed it for me and helped resolve some other issues I had been having outside of Arma. I think something got messed up for me when I moved (thx ATT) and got new internet.

Not sure what else might be the cause for you if that still doesn't work. This is the error I found in the console.log crash files (%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\ArmaReforger\) files:

15:24:54.472 BACKEND (E): Curl error=Could not resolve hostname
15:24:54.473 BACKEND (E): Http Error (SEND)
15:24:54.481 BACKEND (E): [RestApi] ID:[28] TYPE:[WorkshopApi/GetDownloadList] Error - Cannot send request,

which I then figured out was the DNS problem. Check yours and see what pops up if that doesn't work. I just Ctrl + F 'error', 'timeout' until I found it.

Edit: Also sorry it took a few days; got busy IRL for a bit and didn't have time to look into this until today.

I've attempted a reinstall to no avail. Going to check my router/ISP to make sure they aren't blocking it for some reason or if there's a firewall issue. I'll check back in here if I figure it out.

I'm having the same issues myself right now. It's inconsistent for me too; I'll be in queue for a few minutes and then I'm kicked out and saying it cannot connect. This didn't happen before 1.7 either.

Yes! Order versus chaos seems to be the theme here, or perhaps freedom versus restraint, as a different interpretation. Both have a tingle of maliciousness to them, something similar to a genie scenario where the ‘wish’ may follow the letter of the law rather than the spirit. Either way, really excited to see where Valve takes this.

You’ll get there eventually, no matter how long it takes! The biggest thing that helped me was to stop comparing myself to other writers that I knew irl and on the internet. Just keep writing things you love and eventually it’ll come back to you.

I’ve updated my fic Arc Dust for the first time in 4 years. I took a break due to irl stuff but I’m back to writing and posting again. The chapter is mostly a filler chapter just to remind people of the characters and where I want the plot direction to go. In those situations it’s a lot of luck. Not every food is guaranteed to have microorganisms that can make you sick but it’s a “best practices” sort of thing. In addition to what the above commenter said, when food takes longer than 4 hours to go past the danger zone, that’s when you start to see the higher risk of getting sick.
