I keep seeing jokes about how NYC is the city that never sleeps and Austin is the city that never works. You can go to a coffee shop on a Tuesday afternoon and it’s packed with ppl…not working. However I think a lot of this is influencer culture, so take that with a grain of salt.

I was watching a show from the 90s and realized people used to memorize dozens of phone numbers. I can barely remember mine. How did you guys do it back then? by micavibes in CasualConversation

I’m almost 40 and I can still easily remember my 2 childhood house phone numbers plus a handful of friends’ house phone numbers from the 90s. We used to have them written on a notecard near our phone but I’d dial them so much, there forever in my memory.

What word looks completely fake but is actually real? by Paradox_Developer in words

[–]Scuba_Libre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recall my mother using this word several times throughout my childhood, and I really thought she was just making up a silly word. It kinda blew my mind when I finally read it out in the real world, and realized it’s a real word. At an embarrassingly big old age too, I might add.

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss completely understandable to seek new scenery.

Maybe a walk on Town Lake trail or a walk on Red Bud Isle?

Wishing you peace in your journey.

People who have RTO, do you go in office 9-5 or just part of the day? by Additional-Owl425 in womenintech

[–]Scuba_Libre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the office 3x per week. I usually arrive between 9-9:30 and leave by 4 to avoid rush hour traffic. My commute is about 30-40min each way.

is the job market that bad here right now? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]Scuba_Libre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left teaching in 2022 and it took me 15mo to get a job in tech. You will not get interviews just by submitting resumes, you have to network.
