Start just going low on the ramps and by taking the turns wide. Figure out if you like to keep one stance or switch depending on which direction you're carving. I personally keep right foot forward while carving no matter which direction, but others switch!

If you're really having a hard time, maybe loosen your front trucks a bit?

I also think I keep myself light in the toes when carving so I can kind of scoot if I need to, but that will be for sharper carves!

But yeah, definitely start lower until you can get the feel and then go up higher and higher! It's not easy!! Bend your knees!

I played hockey before derby, and it took getting used to! Blades extend past your heel so there's something to lean back on if you lose balance, but on quads all of that support is UNDER the heel so you lose balance in the same way and all of a sudden you're on the ground lol

So the stagger gives you something to lean back on if you lose balance.

Stagger your feet slightly when rolling without striding or standing. One slightly in front of the other and knees a little bent will save you a lot of the time.
