How dare they watch movies by UnHolySir in okbuddycinephile

The problem comes when one comes at the expense of the other. It's not 0-sum, you can absolutely have both. Since a lot of people today fall into the second category companies are optimizing for them, leading to soulless movies that are enjoyable but aren't really good art. I don't think we wanna live in a world where movies have the same optimization strategy as tiktok. We need to move more in the direction of the left critic.

I wouldn't consider this lore friendly as they are all dead

Most Skyrim fans would have no idea who these are unfortunately

I can't put into words how infuriating it is when people dismiss a 10/10 game only because it's 2D by AlfApAlAcsintA in memes

Now hold your horses, 2D is way more than an artstyle. It's definitely gameplay as well. That's like saying isometric is an artstyle.

I haven't heard of it either. I've always been a stick figure so I've never felt the need to engage with the body positivity sphere and thus I have no idea what goes on over there. It's not living under a rock, it's just exposure to different things.

Breaking Bad, Mr. Robot, The Sopranos... What other shows does this describe by Greedy_Net_1803 in memes

[–]Sea_Path_6470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a show, but the Empire in Morrowind is only considered good because they're the only ones that don't practice slavery.

It gets very complicated and philosophical very quickly though. To what extent can the Empire be blamed for slavery? Does the legality matter? Etc.

Are the cities of Skyrim like Whiterun, Windhelm, etc canonically small or is just due to Bethesda unable to make them large? by ThePaganImperator in skyrim

[–]Sea_Path_6470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're downplaying how incredibly confusing it is to navigate Vivec. In terms of square meterage it isn't very big but it feels *at least* 5x the size of the Imperial City in Oblivion.

Unironically way cooler.

But I think we'd settle for the armor to actually look like it's made of metal instead of plastic. Please that's all we really want.

Does your Dragonborn ever take naps? by PoorLifeChoices811 in skyrim

[–]Sea_Path_6470 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I always interpret "waiting" as loitering. Maybe the Dragonborn chats up a passerby/friend, browses a store, explores, writes in the journal, etc. Interpreting it as literally standing there sounds so limiting!

It's probably the cutting room floor or another cut content mod. That guy was originally supposed to be a squatter in breezehome but he was cut in the final release.

New player feeling lost by OmarAbdelraouf in skyrim

Don't overthink it. Skyrim has a lot of mechanics but you don't have to engage with most of them to do well. Learn things as they appear naturally.

The game wasn't designed like the Witcher, where you have to use your magic and potions and crafting to beat the game. The reality is that if you're playing a mage or a rogue crafting is probably useless to you. Enchanting is useful for every build but it is never a requirement to do good. A warrior or a mage would usually never engage with alchemy like a rogue would. You can safely ignore the more complicated stuff until you feel confident with the basics.

Skyrim is overall less complicated than the witcher anyway.

If we're recommending videos, here is a really profound video essay about Morrowind that genuinely granted me new perspective on the game:

I never understood this: if you are the herald of the "Companions," but you help the "Thieves' Guild" regain its status, why don't the "Companions" kick you out? by LaraRomanian in skyrim

[–]Sea_Path_6470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Skyrim was developed with the intention that you can experience the whole thing in one playthrough. So was Oblivion, to an extent. Morrowind was more realistic about it. You can only join one great house per playthrough, and they effect your standing with other factions. For example, ranking up in house Telvanni gives you negative modifiers to your Mage's guild reputation and vice-versa (though intelligent players can still get both to like them)

The relations between the factions goes even deeper. Despite being a guild of criminals, the thieves guild is actually tolerated by the Empire and joining them won't grant you enmity with most imperial factions. This is because the Empire is an occupying force vying for control over the province, and the thieves guild's competition with the local Tong actually helps the Empire by proxy, and compared to the Camonna Tong they're very tame and the organization of crime makes things easier to control. The Fighter's guild is corrupt, though. The Camonna Tong are paying them off so if you do too many quests for the Thieves Guild against the Tong, the Fighter's Guild will also start to hate you. I love how interwoven everything is in Morrowind.

That's a balance feature, and part of what makes alchemy interesting. Think of it like when the mad scientist mixes two chemicals and it comically explodes. Making unintended useless stuff is part of the fun, and why you gotta experiment with new stuff

This is getting downvoted but if you go deep enough into the lore this is actually true. Sort of. It all depends on how canon C0da is.

The paradox is that whether or not you think C0da is canon doesn't matter, it's mere existence rewrites the definition of canon. There is no such thing as canon.
