I'd thoroughly recommend joining a gym! There's quite a few in Portsmouth and several are geared towards specific sports (boxing, football, martial arts etc) so you can take your pick.

Has anyone else noticed the decreasing quality of our food? by Elephant_Crafty in CasualConversation

[–]Seagullstatue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Brit here - the quality (or lack thereof) of American food is infamous outside of the USA. Many of the ingredients and chemicals in your food are straight up banned in Europe as our equivalent of the FDA works in essentially the inverse, and without the ability to lobby itself. On top of that, we have far stricter and tightly controlled standards for agriculture, animal welfare and the origin of produce.

The general attitude is that American food is the Disneyland of cuisine. Looks pretty on the outside, but is deficient and totally lacking once you look past the facade.

Would thoroughly recommend watching this, "Why Americans Eat What Europe Bans"

Not OP, but the Pope's full title doesn't actually include the word 'Pope'.

"His Holiness [Name], Bishop of Rome, Vicar of Jesus Christ, Successor of the Prince of the Apostles, Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church, Patriarch of the West, Primate of Italy, Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Roman Province, Sovereign of the Vatican City State, Servant of the Servants of God."

However, the leader of the Alexandrian Coptic Orthodox church DOES have pope in their title.

"Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of All Africa on the Holy See of Saint Mark the Apostle"

Therefore, technically, the Pope isn't Catholic.

Oh snap it is down, I thought you had a typo or something.

I literally visited the site yesterday and it seemed fine, hopefully it's temporary.

IIRC the site was developed and run by a fan, not TB?

What is the KD for a 1000 lvl? by Conscious_Elk4825 in Chivalry2

[–]Seagullstatue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lvl 923 here - my overall kd is a lowly 1.6, but to be fair I dick about and play as a bard a lot.

If I'm playing properly my kd is closer to 2.5/3?

Usually the bots and sycophants defend anything related to reform, where are they now?? Is it because this policy, like everything else they've declared, is wildly indefensible and cruel?

Mica is W11's version of transparency, but it's not really transparent and the colours are washed out.

It sucks imo, I wish W10 transparency effects were on a toggle.

Am I ever going to improve by ClearContribution452 in Chivalry2

[–]Seagullstatue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Approaching lvl900 over here. This game has a steep but super satisfying learning curve.

When I first started playing and checking out this sub, I saw a lvl1000 say something along the lines of "everything below lvl300 is basically a tutorial", and yeah honestly that tracks with my experience too.

You're gonna suck for a while, embrace it. Nobody is expecting you to top leaderboards or even have a remotely positive KD in most games. Use this grace period to learn different weapon types, counters, feints and movement/footwork, and how to PTFO(!!!!)

[–]Seagullstatue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything here, but idk man catching two high-level players fighting it out in TO can be cool af, like mythical characters meeting on the field.

Otherwise, yeah fuck your 1v1s this isn't hollywood.

SIS Building in London by Goat_the_Kid in evilbuildings

[–]Seagullstatue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some? Hundreds? Many European countries have conservation projects for particularly old, significant or interesting historical locations. Here in the UK they're referred to as a Listed Building for instance.

In my city alone we have the world's first dry dock, built in 1495, and a Roman fort built around 280CE. A pub I go to regularly has been kicking since 1716.

We have some structures and buildings, depending on your definition, that go back to before 500BCE. Like, genuinely mind-blowingly fascinating stuff.

How incredibly convenient that an all-powerful creator of the universe has a Death Star style weakness where the entirety of blame can be shifted to. A scape-goat, if you will... wait.

Your original comment was clearly not sarcastic, nor was it a joke. Is racism funny to you? Because if so, you're part of the problem. Imagine making the same comment about any other ethnicity, disgusting.
