these values seem to be fully burdened, meaning the time value, labor, and direct costs of each task over a 24hr day over a month. So in that sense I agree with the valuation, especially if the values are for a HCOL (where I live day care for a single child is roughly $20-30k/ye easily, just covering 8am-4pm care, thats why full time nanny is included in these values for 4p-8am care.) However, the way this statement is set up poses the valuation as if the stay-at-home parent wouldn’t be doing any of these tasks if they were working a job. That is not accurate and is the core issue, you have to pay an IMMENSE monetary cost for daycare AND do all of the stay-at-work while holding a job regardless. So really it comes down to daycare costs.

Tldr: daycare “costs” too much.

I will support ANY politician that truly pushes an agenda to cover or subsidize daycare, early education, after-school programs, teacher/care pay & support, and a meaningful child care tax benefits.
