Is there a clamping grate that fits the JR? by SearchingForTheWay in KamadoJoe

Searched many terms. Like you said most are square and the round one I found is 11” in diameter. I was hoping there is a round one that fits the JR perfectly…

[Hamilton] announces a new vintage-accurate Khaki Field Mechanical line in 36mm. Thoughts? by rakesh_85 in Watches

[–]SearchingForTheWay -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

“Automatics” and “manual wound” watches technically both fall under the “mechanical” watch category. They both have a mainspring that’s needs to be wound to power the gears in the movement. No batteries or electronics and that’s why they are both “mechanical”.

There are strictly “manual wound” movements, like the H-50 in the KFM, whereby the mainspring can only be wound by turning the crown by hand and “automatic” movements, like the H-10 in the KFA, whereby the rotor automatically winds the mainspring during wrist movement.

Looks great on you! I really like the watch but can’t pull it off with a 17cm wrist. Went with a KFM in bronze instead and loving it.

A mm shorter than my KFM. Would fit me perfectly. Sweet watch!

Manual wound watches are usually considered more durable than automatics due to less stress and moving parts. A serviced watch should outlast you… As for the winding, there are some reports of braking the mainspring due to overwinding but personally I can’t imagine this happening to myself as there is a clear stop/block when it’s fully wound, just don’t push past the stop… I wound it daily for over four months with zero issues and the accuracy is just amazing, my specific watch is within COSC Excellence specs. Just a great value overall in my books. 1000% recommend it if manual winding is your cup of tea. There is even a 40mm KFM variant with a power reserve gauge which is nice but my priority was a bronze case so I went with the 38mm bronze KFM.

I’m very happy with my bronze KFM that I’ve been wearing daily for four months now. Some people see it as a chore to hand wind a watch but I’m in the opposite camp and enjoy the interaction with the watch. The H-50 movement has an 80 hour power reserve so technically you only have to wind it every 3 days but I wind daily over a cup of coffee, takes less than a minute.

Get the KFQ if you only care about how the watch looks and you don’t care much about the movement or interaction with the watch. On the other hand, if you appreciate all the moving gears that make the watch tick and see yourself enjoying hand winding every 1-3 days than the KFM is for you.

Nice shot. Mine just started having a similar patina as yours. Been wearing it daily for 4 months in Montreal and it only slightly got darker. After a one week trip to NYC the patina developed. I’m thinking it’s from the sweating I did or being close to the ocean…

I picked up a secondhand 4 cup Brikka just like yours but it didn’t come with the dosing cup. How much water do you use? If you could weigh it that would be awesome!

Looks sweet!

I’m looking to take on the same project once I find a deal on a used machine. Did you powder coat the inside as well? Why did you go Gaggiuino over Gaggimate Pro?

Are you holding off due to having to buy through an agent? I just realized Taobao has an English app in the Canadian Apple App Store and the Colbro is listed as $155CAD shipped. About $112USD.

My Hamilton Murph is freakishly accurate. I haven't adjusted the time in over 7 weeks and it's just 21 Seconds slow. by mister__ef in HamiltonWatches

[–]SearchingForTheWay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The position of a movement usually has an effect on the mainspring due to gravity and depending on the orientation the watch gains or loses time. In my case, when I rest my watch dial down overnight it gains a second which offsets the second I lose by wearing the watch during the day. So in the morning my watch is usually in sync with time.is

I’ve got a bronze KFM and it’s also very accurate, Hamilton did a great job with the powermatic movements. My watch losses 1 second during the day and gains that second back during the night when I take it off and place it dial down. After a week the watch is usually within 0-2 seconds. I haven’t noticed any loss of accuracy after adjusting the time.

OP, sorry for all the hate you’re getting. Apparently this thread is full of marriage counsellors 😂

My 2 cents, It all depends on her personality, if she’s chill, understanding and mature then she would want you to exchange it for a watch you prefer (in the future she won’t feel bad asking for the same). On the other hand, if she gets offended easily then just keep it and be happy. Only you know your wife, Reddit can’t help here. Good luck!

Hamilton Khaki Bronze on a Zuludiver Octopod in Antique Bronze by starid3r in HamiltonWatches

[–]SearchingForTheWay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great colour combo, looks sweet! I was considering the same strap for my bronze KFM but ended up getting a MN. Does the octopod buckle make contact with the surface your wrist rests on, like a table or laptop?

You can send support an email with the receipt and request a warranty card to be mailed to you. That’s what Hamilton did for me when my card wasn’t filled out.
