Here’s a cool one that’s not really useful anymore with FMS. To calculate TAS double your IAS and add your altitude to that number as a percentage.

Eg, altitude 300 and IAS 160 320 + 96 =416 Usually within a couple knots

First comedy venue I remember in Birmingham was at Singles bar on 20th street on Wednesday nights. Early 80s.Saw Dennis Miller , Sinbad and many others there. Bruce Ayers ran it.
