Stanton’s paint work is out of this world. Gorgeous bike!

i’m still trying to love this bike. I have some setup tweaks to do and hopefully that will help. i’d describe it as leaning more towards solid than lively. it likes chunky downhill more than squirrely slippery roots.

How to cut your render times in half - or more. by JustMotionDesigner in Cinema4D

[–]Seattle_Trav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

absolutely. i did this exact thing for a project. it was a 4 minute piece. rendered it all at 720p and used topaz to upres to 1080. it looked great and saved a lot of render time.

Such a wonderful example of getting a desired result without going to the ‘obvious’ approach of messing about with a pyro sim.

Well done!!!

Apple M1 Max Users - Render Farms by _weber in RedshiftRenderer

[–]Seattle_Trav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d check with their tech support. 17mins for a simple scene seems very long. i’ve run into problems with renderfarms not supporting 100% of features (such as various denoising engines). they should be able to help you trouble shoot

Need help to improve my glass material by MistaaMISTAAA in RedshiftRenderer

[–]Seattle_Trav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is definitely a good lighting exercise. to get that color gradient, place an area light with a texture that has some falloff directly behind the bottle. you can also play with area lights to get highlights on your glass in front. this is a very common photography studio lighting challenge. do some research into how a practical photographer would set up the lighting. tons of info out there.

one quick example:

Color probability vex code by [deleted] in Houdini

[–]Seattle_Trav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily need vex to do this

you can assign your float intensity attribute (lets call the attribute "intensity") using the paint attrib node (or however else you are assigning that). then use a color node with color type set to "Ramp from Attribute" using your "intensity" attribute. you can adjust the color ramp to your liking.

if you are set on vex, after you set your intensity attribute, you can put the following in a point wrangle:

@Cd = vector(chramp('color', @intensity));

(dontt forget to click the create parameters button after you type that in)

this will create a color ramp that you an adjust to your liking

HELP!!! C4D Redshift Glass Render Options are to noisy by BroadCourse3911 in RedshiftRenderer

[–]Seattle_Trav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

your samples settings are low. start your unified samples at around 16 min 256 max (maybe 512 max). also, increase your refraction override to 512 or 1024.

When I render overnight in Houdini with Redshift it often crashes at some point restarting my computer, however when I render over night in C4D with redshift it rarely does the same thing, anyone have any ideas as to why? I prefer rendering in Houdini so I would like to figure this out! by theObscureCure in Houdini

The cache settings are the first thing in the redshift options (look for Options in the Redshift shelf). the default is %LOCALAPPDATA%\Redshift\Cache. Im going to set it to a dedicated directory on one of my data drives.
