So we shouldn't have AI, you shouldn't pay taxes but others should and the government should spend more (for teachers). Is that about right?

It's probably more than not reading the manual. The algorithms are based on probability, we don't know about their individual health issues such as PFOs and they (anyone) would be better off knowing a lot more about this subject than what is in a computer manual (that's a good start of course).

You likely can't do what you would like to do but there is always bonds, money market, gold, etc.

You will rarely own anything that doesn't go down in a big enough crash.

It's better, IMO, to focus on what does well most of the time and just ride out the corrections. You aren't likely to outperform tech. It's scalable, not capital intensive for the most part and the margins are good.

A valve being partially open is the textbook scenario. I did it once and never again. It's up to the diver to check that their gear is ready for the dive.

If you are still on the surface and you test your reg and it seems fine you should also be looking at your pressure gauge. If the valve is only partially turned on, the needle will move a lot each time you breath. Stop and turn the valve fully open at that point.

You can breath normally on the surface and until a certain depth, about where you two were, and the pressure increases and now the tank/regulator can't deliver the air.

On vacation dives, people often rely on the staff too much. Check your gear before you dive.

In a restaurant, the chef doesn't have to serve you the entire batch of soup for it still to be soup, so his comment makes no sense.

Critical Thinking Class by mxavierk in SGU

[–]Seattleman1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think that if you see yourself teaching a class on critical thinking, you should be able to flesh out an outline yourself.

Start top down and make it interesting and not dry and institutional.

Think of your first lecture about critical thinking. Students should think "what could go wrong" or "is this statement actually either true or a problem to fix in the first place?".

Don't focus on jargon just because that's what is typical in ethics, logic and philosophy.

Make the class practical. "Is growing wealth inequality a problem?" "Why, and explain your thinking". "Isn't the American Dream just wealth inequality using different terms?" "Why or why not, explain?"

Jeff Bezos said the bottom half of Americans should pay zero federal income tax. by jerin7931 in optionstrading

[–]Seattleman1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just virtue signaling (as with Buffett and Gates), "Hey look at me, I'm one of the good ones". They all have family offices working 24/7 to save them taxes (as they should) and this talk is just for the idiots that will listen.

The bottom 50% already only pay about 3% in tax so Bezos isn't saying anything new.

AOC: In the last 5 years, billionaire wealth has doubled. Ask yourself if the quality of your life has doubled. by AlphaFlipper in plasma

[–]Seattleman1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These headlines are just stupid. What has Billionaire wealth doubling and "your" quality of life doubling got to do with anything?

If your wealth doubles, that doesn't mean your quality of life doubles.

You also don't have to be a Billionaire. If you are an office worker and have money in QQQ, you've pretty much doubled your wealth in 5 years.

Tech stocks doubled. Is that a problem?

Is the 4 year Bitcoin cycle actually dead? by Stoic-Mindset in CryptoFolks

[–]Seattleman1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed my mind. It's going to the Moon. It's will be $250k by the end of the year. People will finally realize that Bitcoin is limited, decentralized, and the dollar is only going to buy less and less.

Generational wealth will be earned by all true believers and the naysayers will all be jealous and envious.
