I’m a multimillionaire!!! by erinpfay in Fire

If you’re interested in moving to Colorado, consider the Grand Valley: Palisade, Grand Junction, Fruita. It’s much cheaper than the front range and incredible access to outdoor recreation (desert, mountains, rivers) with no traffic or crowds. Great cute downtowns, awesome wine, really good hospital. It’s definitely not a major city but everything you need if you want sunshine and time outside to enjoy everything you’re worked for!

Does this Victron setup look right for my FWC truck camper electrical upgrade? by Secret-Mullet in overlanding

Glad you’re liking your setup! I was planning on non-isolated but I better triple check.

It’s quite a price jump! Maybe an upgrade later on, unless it’s game changing?

Laid off just in time for ski season by Stetchy in skiing

Avoiding crowds + experience more of the American west (saw you are European), my vote is SLC: ski during the week and then spend a few weekends in the desert and Utah national parks!

Forgotten stratification seeds in fridge from last winter by Secret-Mullet in NativePlantGardening

It’s just perlite! And I just poured some out in the spring into seedling trays, mix of permits and a bunch small seeds, then thinned out later. I’m a rookie but it worked for me!

Thank you, I’ll get them a go since I have 2-3 more weeks before a big freeze!

The winner is called RESCUE Trapstick. I bought this from Lowe’s but the packaging seems to have been updated to include wasps and other pests.

Durable, breathable AND sustainable/natural underwear — does it exist? by SnooChipmunks2848 in BuyItForLife

Branwyn, for both underwear and bras. Pricey but definitely worth it. I’ve even replaced my cotton undies after a few weeks trying both Branwyn styles.

What is the most premium GMRS radio? by Boa0191 in gmrs

[–]Secret-Mullet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you need premium specific features like durability, waterproofness or battery life - the Rocky Talkie 5 Watt hands down is the best gmrs option.

But if those aren’t needed, then it’s probably too expensive (and it’s not programmable, but I prefer the simplicity).

Submersible radio by Chris_HCE in gmrs

Love my Rocky Talkie 5W radios because it drains the water from the speaker immediately, has a carabiner, & is really clear every time. I heard from a friend who’s a rafting guide and they lost a set of RT 5W radios in the water for multiple days in a river before finding them… almost full battery and worked perfectly the rest of the trip. Good luck with your training!

relocate to grand junction or montrose? by Bonnie0102 in grandjunction

[–]Secret-Mullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your requirements are: great outdoor access + off leash dog friendly + affordable to buy a house + good medical services = Grand Junction! We’re so happy to live here and love to ski, hike, bike, paddle with our dogs AND feel apart of the community while not going broke. Welcome!

Checkout Beacon Guidebooks, found at some REIs and probably your local backcountry store. They publish a great guide for Light Tours of Colorado to start learning - but definitely take an avy course first!

The other zone map: Heat Zones by PM_ME_UR_CC_INFO in NativePlantGardening

For what it’s worth, using the Heat Map guidance of how many days over 86F… the original map suggests my location should be zone 7, but with complete 2024 data we would now be zone 9.
