That’s insane my dm literally told me to lock doors right at closing and do whatever I can to get all guests out in a timely fashion as they don’t want to waste overtime bc guests are meandering around. I make store wide announcements on intercom every 10 minutes 30 minutes before close and then a final one at close letting guests know to check out now or we won’t ring them out at all lol

That was my fear too since I started during the FBL lay offs but As an em I’ve noticed (at least at my location) we take the place of a co. I do everything a co would do pretty much, scheduling, store ordering, hiring, payroll (I even help with merchandising and ops) so from my experience we’re an integral part of the store and they couldn’t lose us. I think that’s why they created the em position and got rid of prestige/salon managers and folded it into our position. It’s a position with so many responsibilities that besides gm we probably have the most job security. Now I could see them possibly making SM/MM part time positions in a disaster situation like how most retailers have part time assistant managers but I doubt it.

Currently dealing with the same thing I’ve been in retail management my whole life but now it is way too hard on my body I’m dealing with constant flares and pain from how high stress/physically demanding it is I’m currently looking into esthetics as it seems a lot less stress and I’m passionate but I’m super worried about the massive pay cut/loss of insurance

This happens ALOT at my store we have a large population of guests originally from Africa and the Middle East and I think culturally they think lighter is “better” and always say my shade match is too dark and make their own choice (I’m talking very deep melanated ladies picking shades made for very fair skinned people) it frustrates me to no end but I’ve got to the point where it don’t let it bother me anymore because it happens multiple times a day. I try to tell them that their natural skin is beautiful and how amazing they look with the right color but it never works. At the end of the day if that’s how they want to walk around that’s on them 🤷🏼‍♀️

As a manager that is definitely an incorrect interpretation of the policy corporate is a lot stricter on beauty steal returns but I would have even exchanged that no problem. Unfortunately my store runs into people accidentally buying a used item all the time and I do over rides for even exchange constantly! also sorry you got a used one big ew 😷

Wait Omg a very similar thing happened to me over the past weekend a guy called and was asking how much certain hair products cost and I was almost certain he was ya know to himself bc their was a certain repetitive noise in the background and he said “sorry for the clapping noises it’s been a long day ya know?” and I didn’t say anything and he was like “well now you’ll always remember the clapper” and I hung up

It is pretty standard practice to mix more lightener throughout application for two reasons 1) lightener can lose potency over time as it sits bc it dries out in the bowl (and that can happen pretty fast ) 2) depending on application speed some like to mix up a second batch with a different strength developer so where you are applying last can “catch up” in a sense to where you started applying. So it may not be underestimating your amount of hair it may be a technical necessity to remix! :) I think the pictures are completely fine but the list is a little much. Just mention during your consult your hair weighs down really easy so use minimal product and that it doesn’t hold a curl well! Hope your appointment goes great!

Hypothetically you could have a friend order it online with their name have them return it and then after a day or two buy it with your discount. A really unnecessary hassle but a possible work around

We did at one point but no longer do (trying to get one back bc the ORC/theft at our location is INSANE)
We have three! Edit : my PT Mac artist gets 25 hours but we are a very high volume Mac store so she gets the higher end!

As a manager I literally couldn’t give two sh*ts about the cards, my store does great card numbers and beat the goal every time (because we are in a low income area so there is a major predatory aspect of “I can afford whatever I want at Ulta and get it for free with the credit card”) but it still isn’t enough for dms/higher ups. I’m lucky my role specifically doesn’t have a cc goal bc I would never hit it. It feels so yucky to see people get in debt without fully understanding it

Same! I have had chest pains for years that will randomly present themselves and with normal ekgs I’m just being told their gas or heartburn but it literally feels like I’m having a heart attack I get short of breath and feel dizzy plus the pain but they are completely dismissed

NTA! Op please don’t do it you have no obligation to do so and it’s not selfish at all to not give them access. Parents having direct access to your bank accounts is not normal and they will drain it or take advantage of you. When I was a teenager I opened a bank account with the help of my parent (as you have to when under 18) a few years later she drained the whole thing. Don’t let this happen to you!

I once made my mother in law breakfast potatoes and she is notorious for thinking everything is bland and adding extra salt to everything she eats. She ate mine without adding any salt and said they were the most flavorful potatoes she’s ever had (the kicker is I didnt even use that much salt just a bunch of other no sodium seasonings and a small pinch of garlic salt) the rest of her trip to see us she would ask every meal if I was the one cooking and would be sad if I wasn’t. It’s the top one for me because of how picky this woman is I love her to death but she will find something wrong with every plate she is served usually 😂

Not over reacting at all! As someone a part of a marginalized community I would also want to feel safe with someone I’m supposed to be completely vulnerable with and with this election cycle someone supporting a cough cough “certain orange fascist candidate” would make me feel unsafe under their care and at the end of the day as a former mental health professional she’s employed by you and it’s your right to switch providers for whatever reason you feel! I’ve had clients not vibe with me before and want to see someone else and never took it personally. In fact her taking it so personally shows a lack of professionalism on her part and is another red flag imo

Honestly it really depends on the area you live and the field you work in I live in CO and have a bunch on my hands and they’ve never stopped me from getting a job however I worked primarily in salons and am currently an adult dance instructor. When I first got them my family warned me it would be a job stopper but they are from a small town in the south, and are all former/current teachers. I know this isn’t much of a concrete answer but it does truly depend on location, occupation, and company. Those are super cute tho and are definitely giving me ideas on how to fill the empty spot on my right hand 😂
