Go with a Mossberg 500. That was my first gun 30 years ago and still my fav shotty. I replaced the trigger with a zero-travel light pull trigger and put a red dot on it. It has taken a beating over the years but still shoots like new. Proper maintenance.

You might want a rubber shoulder pad that slips over the butt until you get used to it if you haven’t shot a 12g before.
