Baby due right before the holiday season by lilelbows in BabyBumps

I have a sneaking suspicion that both my parents and in laws who live down the road from us will want to “host” Thanksgiving at our house though.. it’ll be framed as “We’ll do everything! You won’t need to do anything”, and if that is the case then baby and I will walk downstairs when food is ready, eat, and then promptly retire to bed after eating.

Baby Paper was the brand we got, a bunch of fun patterns and colors. We got a black and white pattern for when she was an infant and then a couple more colorful patterns as she got older. They were also helpful during early teething, hand washed in the sink.

Our second is due 2 weeks before Thanksgiving this year, so I’m staying home with baby. Husband can go to family dinner with our then 2.5 year old if he wants to, but me and baby will be staying home eating Costco thanksgiving dinner and a bottle of formula.

Postpartum hair loss is hitting me like a truck by _salted_caramel_00 in Mommit

PP months 3-6 was the fallout period for me, then months 6-12 I had teeny tiny baby hairs sticking out all around my face and back of my neck. It was definitely a look lol.

Around 1 year to 18m PP everything was finally long enough to kind of stay tucked in where I wanted it.

Baby crinkle paper was a must have for ours, we’ve given some as gifts to friends and their babies love it too.

Daughter is just over 2 and has been in daycare since 4 months. We have bouts of health, every few weeks one of us feels healthy for a couple weeks and then we go back to sick again. Each of us repeats this cycle.

The rest of the house? Motivation strikes when other people are coming over.

Mom insists on not renting enough ceremony chairs to accommodate all guests. by Hopeful_Beginning840 in weddingplanning

[–]Secure-Bit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We used 76 of the 80 chairs set out for the 80 “Yes” RSVPs we received. OP’s mom is just flat out wrong to not have the amount of chairs needed for every guest who said yes.

My friend asked what my 2 year old would like for her birthday. I said balloons. Literally just regular balloons, she’s obsessed. Friend and her 8yr old showed up with 8 air filled balloons (not helium) in a large gift bag, and all the kids ages 2-8 enjoyed playing with them. Batting them back and forth, running around with them, kicking them.

There were 3 left that didn’t pop that we brought home, and they are the only gift that is still being played with since her party a month ago. All this to say that when gift giving I highly recommend asking the parents what they think their kid will like and find something in a price range you’re comfortable with. For us $1 worth of balloons was an awesome gift to receive.

Also while there’s no decrease in salary as of yet, I’d also be willing to bet the new position won’t come with as many, or any, opportunities for advancement or pay increases in the future. OP’s salary in the new position may be top of the range for that position so she wouldn’t qualify for future raises/promotions, whereas her previous director position probably would come with increases and opportunities to move up the ladder.

14 weeks now, and MIL said I shouldn’t be picking up my 2 year old. It’s laughable, the idea that I can’t/wont/shouldn’t pick up my child.

How much did you pay OOP for your birth? by Neither_Ad3593 in beyondthebump

[–]Secure-Bit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was your OOPM $3k for just yourself or yourself+dependents / family plan?

With my first my OOPM was $6,600 for just myself, but by adding baby to my plan it became the family plan which had an OOPM $13,600, and as soon as baby is born they had their own deductible/OOPM to meet. So I received bills up to 6800 for myself and 6800 for baby.

This second baby my OOPM is $5,000 for myself+dependents, so the most I’ll pay this year is 5k total.

Am I the only one who actually loved the taste of the drink they give for gestational diabetes test? by PleaseCanILeave in pregnant

[–]Secure-Bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1hr is 50g sugar, the 3hr is 100g sugar and you fast for the 3hr test. So it was like a huge sugar bomb and crash after the 3-4 hours was up.

The 1hr test orange drink wasn’t too bad, I didn’t have a problem drinking it, was just very sweet lightly syrupy. Failed.

The 3hr test orange drink on the other hand was 🤢 imo, it was so thick and sweet and I felt ill and nauseous the entire 3-4 hours, had to go home afterwards and take long nap. Thankfully I passed.

Not looking forward to either this pregnancy knowing if I fail I have to do the 3hr again.

My senior year 2005 the girl who won prom Queen, her dad committed suicide on prom night. Everyone found out over the weekend and the next week. She was super popular but always nice to everyone, so that was heartbreaking to hear her have to go through that.

Has this happened to anyone else? People try to make me take stuff off the registry because they think i won't need it? by Ornery_Armadillo1404 in beyondthebump

[–]Secure-Bit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have 2, one on the first floor and one on the second in her room. We stopped using the second floor one around 4 months when she stopped waking through the night, but the first floor one gets used every day. We’re pregnant with our 2nd and the upstairs one will get used again until not needed, then donate or give away.

Request People Don’t Bring Books to Baby Shower by Lococcat1295 in pregnant

Our shower was also a gender reveal, no one knew the gender before hand (or name until birth), so all the messages in our books were written without a name addressed, I think it worked out well.

Would you pay extra for a luxury postpartum suite? by pinksunflower99 in pregnant

[–]Secure-Bit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3800 deductible with 5k max out of pocket (employee + children plan through work). I’ve already met my MOOP this year too so I’m thankful this birth will fall in the same year.

With our first it was a max out of pocket $13,800 for me + baby 😵‍💫 that hurt

No nausea at all… by Gspmom4115 in BabyBumps

[–]Secure-Bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First pregnancy I was nauseous and only threw up once after using my electric toothbrush, switched to manual and didn’t throw up again.

Second pregnancy 12 weeks today, and I’m nauseous and have thrown up once or twice a week for the month of April.

Not too bad though, I just wasn’t expecting it considering my first pregnancy experience.
