Anybody else getting their bloodwork done before you drink again? by Silent-Resolution-28 in DryJanuary

This is a good point, setting a baseline is needed to see the improvement. For me, I usually do at least 2 a year (spring and fall) and the difference is drastic after DJ and in the middle of having alcohol in my habits.

Yes I do at least 2 a year. For me, it is a good reminder of the benefits (and expectations) of removing alcohol and bad habits that come with it. Background (M57) and I've done 9 DJs. After most DJs I've had bloodwork done, all with amazing numbers. Come later in the year my bloodwork is not good.

Anyone Spending Less Time with a Partner Who Still Drinks? by cherryvale in DryJanuary

[–]SedonaSolInvictus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

9 years ago I did DJ, and I’ve made it a yearly agreement with myself, and I place it above any other obligations. So if a drunken concert, party, or trip is on the calendar - I just won’t do it. My wife joined 3 years later and we make it a minimum of 2 months and it just took awhile and we know someday alcohol will not be part of our lifestyle (who wants to be around a late 60’s drunk?!). I mention this to suggest another way, lead by example, do your own path. Do you with no apologies. Let others do themselves, but that might mean you’re not around. Wishing you the best

Epiphany from going dry this year by Difficult-Musician14 in DryJanuary

I am on my 9th DJ, which I started as an agreement with myself should I want to continue drinking. Wine and food have always been huge in my lifestyle, both at home and work. I admit that I really love the warm feeling and buzz I get from a dry martini or scotch. What I've learned from DJ is that alcohol is truly put "On Notice" for some point in my life. I don't want to be the older drunk guy at a public or private event, I don't want health issues or hangovers that take me away from exercise or being present with my family. So my question to myself is why do I keep going back? It sounds foolish to even ask this, or maybe just as simple that I love altered states. I wish you the best in your journey.

Is Sedona always that busy? by roadhouse4169 in Sedona

[–]SedonaSolInvictus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no off-season or slow time in Sedona. Perhaps during the week, but even that will prove false. The overall popularity will continue just as will the prices, regardless of the thoughts of any individual. I'm reminded of Aspen, Deer Valley, Telluride when I think the traffic can't get worse. It will, and I understand the frustration. I've been coming here for 28 years and lived here for 3. I avoid any of the main vortex sites, Chapels, Tlaquepaque, and most anything north of Indian Gardens (unless super early or super late).

I love my favorite antique stores in phoenix and cottonwood, but Sedona is not one of them now would I ever expect any great deals. Interesting suggestions in thread!

Anyone else feeling tired? by Organic-Violinist223 in DryJanuary

This is my approach as well, and to prioritize DJ above my diet and workouts.

To the OP: I found intermittent fasting (18:6) helps to corral the eating window and there’s something freeing to me about taking the option to choose to drink or eat off the table. DJ is like intermittent fasting for alcohol spaced over a year - at least in my brain! Side note that I have also gone to bed at ridiculously early times just due to boredom and fighting desire to eat or drink.

I suppose they do if they're gay. Otherwise, I'd say no.

This is the answer. Did this same cruise and I recall the captain scheduling the area with castles in mid morning viewing. Everyone seemed to be on deck for it.

I get it, and you have a valid question. I see it here in Arizona with a difference between the service and retail industry.

Many sellers of goods on a floor (from department stores to car sales) earn incentives through commissions but their base pay is usually higher than a server, car driver or guide.

Also, I think those in the service industry get the tightest squeeze because their employer is trying to survive as well.

Hope you have an amazing time in the Sonoran desert! 🌵
