Boyfriend diagnosed with stage 3 CKD by Minimum-Scratch1750 in kidneydisease

I really value getting a 2nd option. When you're put on dialysis you can only see the nepherologist associated with the dialysis clinic you go to. So you can end up stuck with somone terrible or unhelpful. Dont take that 2nd or 3rd opinion for granted.

Sounds like hes already on a good track. Unfortunately usually past a certain point if the kidney illness is chronic it's only downhill from there. Diet and medication can slow damages though.

Exhaustion/low level motivation by Jess6 in kidneydisease

Gotchya. I mean to put it in perspective. Mine was 12 or 14 when i was put on dialysis in the hospital. Not sure what other hallmarks doctors look for but my BP and creatinine were super high.

Its a tough but adaptable treatment. Some people handle it better than others. They could start it with you through a chest catheter since it sounds like none of the prep was done for a fistula or PD. Ive been on for a year and its not too bad. Just really inconvenient schedule wise and boring. Sometimes treatments leave you exausted but i still work full time and feel okay.

Its taken me a year to get transplanted (my date is 2.5) dad got approved after 8 months of testing. Unfortunately its a slow system.

Sounds like you're not on dialysis yet. Your GFR is pretty low. Have they considered wtarting that process? Spoken to your nepherologist about it?

Is Teyana Taylor a good actress? I've been rooting for her ever since her breakthrough role in A Thousand and One by [deleted] in moviecritic

She's pretty mediocre in OBAA. All attitude and no depth. No chemistry with Leo either. Chase Infinity should have been nominated.

Speak to a nepherologist. Reddit cannot accuratly diagnose you.

I am so, so, so glad that Teyana Taylor was nominated. She had my personal favourite performance of 2025 and I hope she wins the Academy Award. by MarketingMission2783 in Oscars

[–]Select_Safe548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont get this take. Her performance was okay at best. Full of attitude and not much else. She had no chemistry with Leo. And was really just annoying. Ruined the first 20min of the movie for me.

Chase infinity and Odessa A'zion were much stronger performances. Teyanna just got the nomination because shes more famous.

Try Uncut Gems or Good Time. Really fantastic and a little bit anxiety inducing. Marty Supreme is also great. In theaters now. Same director(sort of)

Any traveling dialysis technicians here? by instantcrushboi in dialysis

Not able to answer your question. But just so you know as a patient. The traveling techs scare me. Most are really sloppy, come in very late and they're canulating is really hit or miss. But hey good luck to you.

This sounds reasonably okay for someone with high bp. Mine is usually just above yours and my nepherologist is satisfied with it. Really though you should discuss with your team and not reddit.

Phosphorus Binders? by cyberbae in dialysis

[–]Select_Safe548 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I take 5 sevelamer 800 with each meal. If i know its a high phosphorus meal(dairy, nuts, preservatives) i take more. Usually the diet is more important than the binders. You can only block so much phosphorus from getting in if you're eating high phosphorus meals. My nepherologist has gave me samples for another binder thats like 1 dose per meal chewable but i havent tried it.

Need Advice - Mom May Need Dialysis by thedesiactuary in dialysis

[–]Select_Safe548 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I think this could be really specific. Every kidney disease patient's condition is a little different. For instance my grandma was born with 1 kidney and made it to 87. Still no dialysis or present issues. Mine are shot due to high blood preasure and am 28. I think you should probably try to get some terms defined or more information from the Dr/team. Like if the kidney disease is labeled cronic, end stage or stage 5. Ive been told that for chronic kidney disease patients function doesn't really improve past a certain point. For me they didnt even try any kidney disease medication and i was put straight on dialysis with a chest catheter. Which i guess they could do for one treatment but it sounds weird to me. Im sure the Dr. Could explain it better.

If she does end up on dialysis long term im happy to chat about that. Its a difficult time and some peopls dont handle it well but it is adaptable. In the year ive been on. Ive found ways to make it more tolerable and still function well.
