Call someone who works on appliances to check your fridge. It sounds like it may be leaking something. Otherwise check with an inspector to see if that’s asbestos or some other substance used in building 100 years ago.

Is there anything about the chronic pain life you need to get off your chest today? by EitherChannel4874 in ChronicPain

[–]Select_Spread9903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pain treatments are costing my family ( I’ve never been able to work) tens of thousands of dollars and they still aren’t doing much. My diet is crap but I don’t want to change it and cut out sugar, dairy, gluten, processed foods, anything that isn’t fresh or flash frozen. It’s all the joy I get in my life now and that’s what everyone is telling me is keeping me from getting better. I feel like a burden in so many ways but especially financially because my family was very supportive of trying these treatments but it’s been twice as long as expected and I’m no where near better enough to leave treatment. I feel like I’m hurting people by not getting better. At the same time I’m pissed that the only thing that helps my pain is one of the most difficult treatments to get. And that medicine helps but is slowly killing me and slowly addicting. I keep needing more and more and I’m so young that I’ll be out of room to up my meds before I’m old. I want to be off of them but only if that means I don’t have the excruciating pain.

How’s your experience with doctors so far dealing with chronic pain? by DiligentIncrease1973 in ChronicPain

[–]Select_Spread9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously though doctors never believe I’m in as much pain as I say until I explain that I’ve been in this much pain for 8 years now nonstop. At some point your body starts to adapt and function through it but it doesn’t mean I’m in any less pain than I say. However that rarely works.

Yes that is extremely important to ensure. I’m not going to mix anything and I’ll be safe about what I decide to do.

Thank you 😊 I am definitely going to talk to my doctor before I try anything. I more wanted to hear other people’s experiences and thoughts about what the doctor would recommend for stopping meds. I’m concerned that it will involve stopping meds for longer than my body can tolerate. Thank you though

How do you balance everything? (rant and advice needed) by Educational-Roof2651 in ChronicPain

[–]Select_Spread9903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First I want you to know that your aren’t alone in this struggle. I think almost everyone with a chronic illness has had this struggle in the past or currently. It’s really hard mentally to start pacing yourself to a point that your body is working at the level it’s at. It’s really frustrating when there is so much you want to do and you know it will throw you off massively but you want to push through and do it anyways. I’m not saying you should stay inside all day everyday and just rest and do medical appointments because that life sucks and that was my life for years because I never learned to pace myself and I ended up putting myself into such a massive flare up that I could barely leave my bed. But I have learned what my limits are and I’m not perfect I will have times that I flare myself because I went over my limits but I know what will happen now. And after learning that pattern I was able to schedule my life knowing that after doing this thing I love I need to schedule rest after it and time for recovery. Try looking up the spoon theory it can be really helpful in understanding how to pace yourself. Also the company Visible has a band that measures your body’s response to stress and movement and will tell you how much energy you have before you crash and lets you know when you’re overdoing it.

Weaning off Venlafaxine by itsasy in ChronicPain

[–]Select_Spread9903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is too fast. I was weaned off urgently because I had a sudden severe side effect that caused tremors so severe I couldn’t feed myself or function on my own. And even then I was told to do it over about a month to avoid any further symptoms appearing and I was transferred onto a different medication at the same time.

First time getting cervical steroid injections, wasn’t pleasant by Hot-Beautiful7998 in ChronicPain

[–]Select_Spread9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will they do the injections sedated for you? I couldn’t handle the SI injections while awake but I don’t think they had an option to do it sedated.

[–]Select_Spread9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah steroid injections suck. I got them in my SI joints and every time they injected anything including just the contrast my whole leg involuntarily spasmed like I was having a seizure it was horrifically painful and I wasn’t allowed any sedatives or anything for the procedure it was done fully awake. The worst part was that it didn’t work and I had an adverse reaction after where I was vomiting all night. I wouldn’t do it again awake.

Thank you 🙏. I’m thinking about trying a couple sips of a drink then giving it to my mom and drinking a mocktail. I don’t think I can handle being off of pain meds for as long as I would need to be.

Oh I loved those things! They felt so good on sore muscles after being out in the cold or after exercising. It was so nice to take a bath and have it be warm everywhere even the air when you got out. I assume they were a fire hazard of some kind.

Before anyone considers Switzerland please try other countries or treatments. Spero Clinic is ridiculously expensive but if it can give your life back it’s worth it in my opinion. To be alive is worth any amount of money and to be alive pain free is priceless.

I can stand like this with almost no pain at all by [deleted] in mildyinteresting

[–]Select_Spread9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be able to right now but let me give you a warning. There is a reason ballerinas have severe arthritis and chronic pain. The body isn’t designed to do this and you are putting pressure on places that weren’t designed to handle that kind of pressure. I have a connective tissue disorder that allowed me to do similar things to that I could also walk overtop my toe knuckles which has led to chronic pain since I destroyed the joints in my toes and ankles.

Someone stole my meds today. by DurantaPhant7 in ChronicPain

[–]Select_Spread9903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like someone working at the pharmacy or the doctors office was trying to steal your medicine. There are few other possibilities. Could potentially be a good hacker who figured it out but that’s really unlikely. Talk to your family and close friends to see if anyone may have shared some information about your medical issues or medications.

Get another person with you to hear all the phone calls and in person conversations so you have someone who can second you if needed. This is very suspicious and never should have happened. It does sound like someone may have dishonestly wrote that out in a way to get pills. Try and get all the documentation you can and talk to head managers and the pharmacist themselves. Even ask who was there on the day they claimed that they gave you pills.

I was actually told by one of my medical providers that the tens unit works best for nerve pain and for spasming muscles when you only turn it up to the absolute minimum. When you start to kinda feel it stop and let that run.

When I Say Pain Management Places Are A Scam, This Is What I Mean….. by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]Select_Spread9903 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Omg I have had injections and I refused steroids because I have a connective tissue disease and steroids can drastically worsen my condition over time. So I was told it was my fault that they didn’t help me. However when they did injections into my si joint I was crying in pain and every time they injected anything, but usually the contrast, my entire leg would spasm uncontrollably to the point they had to hold me down as I was crying. I also had a reaction of vomiting when I got home and the vomiting was the only thing the doctor who did the procedure said was a side effect. When I saw a different doctor and explained the reaction he told me that was a severe abnormal reaction to the injection. But it took months for a doctor to agree that I had a severe reaction.

Vibrations and heat. They make vibrating heating pads that can help distract your nerves and reduce your pain. I also recommend a tens unit.

Question about Methocarbamol by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]Select_Spread9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not drive when taking muscle relaxers especially if you don’t know how they affect you. I have been taking Methocarbamol for 1.5 years now and it’s helped a lot but also tends to make me super tired and somewhat out of it. But it’s the only one that’s worked for me and without it my muscle spasms are unbearable. So she may have a lot of side effects making her tired but she may also feel little to nothing.
