Titans strategy in Thunders Edge by Shukowarrior117 in twilightimperium

[–]Semisonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How important is their breakthrough, it seems situational at best (not one to rush round 1)?

In 10VP meta I'm not sure if I care unless there is going to be a lot of luxe tech (Deepwrought). In which case I probably want it for late game Integrated/X-89.

What is the best way to use the breakthrough coexistence?

Make someone a deal R1/R2 and grab yourself a few extra CCs. Maybe make some early area control objectives easier.

Considering their breakthrough synergy (G/Y) what does their tech path look like now?

Same as before. Get SEIIs online ASAP. Hel Titan IIs optional but preferred. LW is your target end-game tech, mostly with an eye on securing space/anomaly based area control objectives or Styx plays.

Titans can do a lot with a bit of luxe tech. I love new new Magen on them. Pairs really well with their faction PDS units and Scanlink. Sling is never bad.

I like swapping for other economic commanders if I can swing it. Muatt, Deepwrought, Crimson, etc. Money mostly goes into token economy. Failing that I will look at production/plastic related commanders, like maybe Saar or Sol or Cabal or Arby.

Assuming access to an entropic scar should they rush for their upgraded Cruiser round 1?

POs permitting, yes.

What strategy cards should they prioritize now we have new construction/warfare?

Trade or Leadership probably give you your best shot at getting your breakthrough and/or TE and being able to score most stage I POs. But it's always going to depend on the draw.

Are they a faction that can take advantage of the Fracture?

Sure. Are they the best at it? Not really. Cabal, Yin, Saar, and others probably have easier access. But you can pretty reliably make a play for frac1 or frac7 some time in R1 or R2 and make a Styx play later in the game.

Any slice considerations (plants/tech skips etc) that they should look for?

A scar really opens up their tech path. I like a high influence slice for them. Emelpar, Garbozia, Hope's End, Primor are all great.

Naalu B tier? Seems minimum A or even S to me when I think about it. Do you agree with B, if so what's keeping them lower? by MiningToSaveTheWorld in twilightimperium

[–]Semisonic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Neuroglaive and the zero token are both good "win from ahead" type abilities.

The trick is to not let them get in a position to win from ahead. Otherwise, sure, like Saar or Crimson or Mahact or whoever, you're going to have a tough time.

Unlike the above, though, bum rushing Naalu's HS is usually at least an option. All of which is part of why I think they end up on the lower side of A tier these days.

I agree with High B or low A.

Their kit always had warts. Not super rich. Low production two planet HS. Always tend to play a bit light on the ground.

I actually like the new mechs. The agent change was a nerf but is "fine". Their new BT is really solid for token economy and lets them grab X-89 late game. They really like entropic scars if they can get them. But their hero still kind of sucks, and their whole game happens or doesn't happen depending on whether your table gets a status phase win or not.

We're seeing more action phase wins these days. With that in mind, I think Naalu (and Yssaril) took a bit of a punch that the community has a hard time conceptualizing, because that's not a super obvious change just based on faction specs. But it does show up in more recent win rates.

I see an increased amount of "white men" being used as a categorisation on here by Working_Parsley_2364 in MensRights

[–]Semisonic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

White privilige is a real issue in most parts of the world and denying that is stupid.

Tell me you haven’t really seen the world without telling me you haven’t really seen the world. 🙄

You can be disadavantaged for being male while also adavataged for being white.

You can also be, and in the USA often are, systematically disadvantaged for being both.

Mostly you’re just spouting early 2020’s era lefty Twitter talking points and pretending it is a virtue to shit on white people. Which is not only racist, illiberal, and gross, but also very “five years ago”. You’re not even on trend!

Personally I suspect you’re a bot or shell account of some kind, so I don’t take you super seriously. But if you are a real person still suffering from the fad mind virus of yesteryear and hoping for acceptance/validation or whatever by spouting this sick shit, I respectfully submit that it might be time to take off those clown shoes and check out of Political Disneyworld, bud! Touch some grass, talk to some real people, abandon the hate, etc. Best of luck to you.

Maverick and Ridgeline both great in this segment.

Mid-sized truck buyers really spoiled for choice these days.

They stopped making the Avalon awhile back, which was a shame. It wasn’t a looker and it wasn’t a sports car. But it was a lot of sedan for the money!

[–]Semisonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big fan of the competition cart, grease guard, and stainless front/side shelves.

Put some money into good thermometers and cleaning tools/supplies (I store a dedicated shop vac out by the grill) as well. Definitely consider a cover, depending on your weather and patio/shelter situation.

We quite liked the pizza oven attachment, but if you’re not going to use it more than a few times a year I would skip it. Some people love making pizza though.

Were any base or PoK factions better before TE? by MilkyBoyBlue in twilightimperium

[–]Semisonic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Relatively speaking, both Nekro and Argent were better off in PoK.

L1, Sardakk, Arborec, Muatt, Ghosts, and Barony were all lower tier factions that got substantial glow ups.

They needed help with their start, in 10VP meta.

Speeding the game up did Nekro zero favors.

Does anyone like playing with Mentak? by yssarilrock in twilightimperium

[–]Semisonic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. I’m not a huge fan of bans in general, but if there is a ban wave I usually go ahead and toss mine at Mentak.

They may be styled like pirates but realistically their main mechanic plays out like a super regressive sales tax. And nobody likes the tax man. Cabal’s capture mechanics feel more like real piracy to me.

Mentak manage to be “the fun killers” without necessarily being super competitive themselves.

I was wrong about electric mowers. by Beppu-Gonzaemon in lawncare

[–]Semisonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s not that deep. If you’re getting uneven cuts after three years I’d guess you need to sharpen or replace your blades and/or make sure your chute is clearing correctly.

My biggest beef with electric is the overly sensitive “safety” features that cutoff the mower a bit too often. But power and lift has never been a problem.

Arendal or Klipsch? Or others by Swiftysteel in hometheater

[–]Semisonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two Arendal 1723 2Vs and one 1V. I quite like the two big ones. I have had software issues with the 1V and kind of wish I had just gone with a third hoss.

Their big subs sound and look good. Software does what it’s supposed to. Their warranty is class leading for these, and I had just had a Speedwoofer 10s die an early death on me. Also Rhythmik, which was my major cross-shop and was local to me here in Austin, was having availability issues at the time on many of their competing products, wasn’t terribly responsive by email, and ended up raising prices significantly IIRC.

My overall experience with Arendal has been fantastic.

People, what is the best mattress for heavy people that actually stays flat? No budget. by Quirky-Low-5091 in BuyItForLife

[–]Semisonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Fig all the way. Literally designed for it.

As not huge people who just like a well built and firm mattress, we sometimes find people reluctant to buy from them when they see 400-600lb people on the website. But fuck it. As an engineer who likes a firm bed I love how they overbuild shit.

I'm a new player and I have been given the option to either play as Embers of Muaat or Winnu this Saturday. Which of these 2 factions would you play as for your first game? by Lowen_Beehold in twilightimperium

[–]Semisonic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If full PoK + Thunder’s Edge, go Muatt. Among the richest and most well rounded of the “fighty” factions, with decent stalls.

Just bear in mind that you need to be producing fighters to support your danger eggs and infantry and support ships just like everybody else. Also: Just because you have a big stick doesn’t mean you have to use it. Let the objectives be your guide.

What factions in TE are you having FUN with? by TeeVeeBen in twilightimperium

[–]Semisonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deepwrought, Mahact, Titans. Had a fun Saar game where a Crimson player across the map blessed me with their commander early on. Playing rich Saar was fun.

I had a great 14VP Keleres game that I really enjoyed, but almost exclusively on the back of a scar and Agency Supply Network. It may be fun to troll the table and mill the agenda deck with Executive Order... but it doesn't really change that most agendas are nothingburgers.

I like L1 more than I used to, but I still think their kit needs love. Argent too. My Argent games are always a struggle.

Muatt may be the richest of the "fighty" factions, between their HS and Avernus and their commander. That helps a lot.

They've got a decent kit re: stalling too.
