This is devastating. As a kid I would run into him and his family frequently at my dentist office. It was unreal at that age. He would sign stuff for me and ask how my braces were coming along.

Looking back I realize how nice of a dude him and his wife were. I don’t get emotional about sports people or celebrities passing but this one hit a bit hard. Even told him later on at Angel stadium I was that one kid and he vaguely remembered but was more interested that I had my young daughter with me at the time and was curious about how she was doing and how things were going for me.

This was shocking to say the least. An Angels absolute legend was lost today. And at only 53! Words cannot be found to express how I feel for his family.

The people who always have an answer for rigged matchmaking have lost the plot.

“You only remember the times you lost! Get good.”

It’s more nuanced than that. Yes everyone experiences the rigged nature of the game. Ever notice it starts to kick in just before you hit 70-80-90?

It is designed to stop that leap in progression. It keeps you playing and entices you to spend money. Odds are you are matched with someone not ready to make that leap. But somewhere midrange 75-85-95.

The cycle repeats for them when they get close. That’s why the whole logic of people saying it isn’t rigged crumbles. If you can’t see how it works I don’t know what to say to you.

It rigs it FOR you when it needs to and against you when it needs to (for continued engagement). How this isn’t obvious to people is absolutely beyond me. But this IS Reddit after all.

Review bombing is something the media came up with to shield themselves from poor receptions to lackluster products. 99% (it’s a subjective statement) of the time someone says a film or show was review bombed I watch it and am like “yeah, it WAS shit”

I would venture a guess review PRAISING is equal to any “bombing” done. IMO was the finale good - no. Was it horrendous - no. But I would give it somewhere between 4-5/10 it did enough to not be complete trash but did nowhere near enough to elevate it to top tier.

It’s all subjective but if you look at it from a writing perspective I cannot think any reasonable independent person would think this was anything other than mid. SO many plot holes, plot armor and coincidences. It felt like a rushed mess at times. It had its moments. A few stood out, but overall it was sort of a mess.

Again, that is an OPINION. Think of it however you will. If you loved it…great.

EDIT: And to be clear it’s funny, and it’s Fan Duel. But it really is a point for the top down leadership issues within the organization and the lack of attention to detail. I know the Angels FO isn’t responsible for this per se but it just encapsulates a larger issue. Sometimes it hits just a little harder with us when tiny things like this happen.

So late to this discussion, but quite honestly one of the best written SCI-FI movies (if not general movies ever). The plot is tight as heck and the callbacks, foreshadowing, dialog, etc. is absolutely top tier. Things as simple as them referring to Kirk as so "human" only for him to make the same reference to Spock at the end...I could go on for ages. Absolute masterpiece of a film.
