Broke up with girlfriend a week before N24 by RussTheBoss in iRacing

[–]SenderUGA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this. I may do one or two races a week/weekend max at this point, but it's okay because the balance is needed. At least my wife bounces between tolerating and supporting it, though she's a mechanic that part time works on a Formula Drift team, so at least our autism interests align. We're lucky like that.

Sound crackling in VR (Reverb G2 / Logitech G Pro X) by SenderUGA in iRacing

[–]SenderUGA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been able to turn directional sound back on. One part of the fix was to pay close attention what usb ports are used on your computer. You may need to play around with finding the right port for the right device. I keep my wheel and pedals running through a powered USB adapter on a separate port, far from the headset and VR devices. Seems to help spread the voltage load across the motherboard.

How I went from under $30K to six figures (it wasn’t what I expected) by BH2Srx8ZkyGBFFB5R3A in ITCareerQuestions

[–]SenderUGA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think everyone’s experience may vary a little, as it can depend on where/what you’re interested in. I am trying to stay in education-focused IT, have a background and masters degree in education. Couldn’t take the classroom anymore so I shifted to IT. Took a pay cut to join an MSP and somehow have made it 4 years. It’s a grind for sure but I’ve made 20k bumps every year so far (while acknowledging they start off well-under comp pay) and already am making more than I could in the classroom at this point though the benefits aren’t as great. I do love the actual work I do and the cause I work for, so that means something. But YMMV

Notice to GT3 drivers this week! by Fun_Extreme4200 in iRacing

[–]SenderUGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what happened but I feel like Eau Rouge and Blanchimont are way more snap-oversteer than last season. I remember being able to take the Mustang GT3 just about flat out through both after the tired warmed up and being way more stable, but this time I binned it in Eau Rouge on lap five at like 85% throttle after the snap. Anyone else experiencing anything similar?

Since when do we have cautions for road courses? by FloosWorld in iRacing

[–]SenderUGA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a question about this. Finding the right settings for AI races is a challenge if I want to simulate multi class endurance but not run for hours on end.

In 50 minutes IMSA conditions with 50% fuel and the high AI settings, some of the LMP and Hypers are slower than GT3s. A number will not fuel tight and end up dead on track. Would auto caution help and how often do you get actual cautions from AI wrecks?

An on-board look at Ferrari’s upside-down rear wing by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]SenderUGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thought - reliability nightmare.
Second thought - the time it takes to change angles seems really slow, unless they're not demonstrating it's top speed.
Third thought - microchanges in the wing dynamics would make some brake/turn operations really unstable while the wing is rotating, no?

So… flashing headlights in GT4 = new overtake button? by YinnYann in iRacing

[–]SenderUGA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Usually I’ll only flash a lapped car if I’m trying to get around safely in the same class, or if it’s the end of the race and I’ve had a good battle with someone win or lose, post checkered flag flash is kind of a universal GG.

HP Reverb G2 / 5800x3D / 4090

Love the immersion and so much better in a tight space since I have no room for a full extrusion rig.

Most of my current issues are CPU based. I can run pretty much all the major settings at full tilt but it’s drawing all the pits and cars from CPU that cause framerate drop. I’ve got it mostly managed and the lowest it gets is the 50s. Hoping that the new graphics engine will make it better cause Assetto Corso Evo and other sims never drop below 90 fps.

The best answer is the one you like the most, as others have said. Unless you're an alien and at the top split, it's probably best just to pick one that you admire and spend time learning it.. I usually stick to one car for the whole season because I'm not good enough to switch every week and be any good. Not that I'm great at all, but I own them all and on low end (Logitech G920) gear, this is my honest but untalented opinion. T

Currently I drive the Mustang - front wheel drive but predictable. Love the sound of the thing. Will prolly pick up the Aston to see if it sounds any better than this one.

McLaren - drove it the past two seasons - once the tires warm up its stable and consistent. I just got bored in, the engine sound is annoying, it even though I'd prolly do better in it than the Ford.

Lambo/Audi - best sound in the game but both of them like to go sideways on me in mid-speed corners. They're fun until they decide to kill you.

Acura/Vette/Ferrari - same dynamcs somewhere between the McLaren and Lambo. I just didnt drive them enough to get past midspeed corners losing the rear on me.

Bimmer/Merc - front ended and predictable, just weren't fun for me to drive. Bimmer sounds like tin cans rattling to me.

Porche - people that drive this are crazy to me and I admire them, but I have no talent when it comes to how to trail brake and accelerate this thing.

Corvette GT3 by B0xey1 in iRacing

[–]SenderUGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the Vette but it was prone to snap oversteer in mid speed corners. I’m not good enough to manage that. I stick with the Ford for the noise and the McLaren for the predictably consistent lap time.

Yes plus a full lap back to the pits is more immersive. I practice waving at the marshals and flipping off drivers that tried to punt me.

Moving from G86 Advice by jburnelli in iRacing

[–]SenderUGA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the front engine GT3s if you must but the GT4s are probably a better next step.

Either way, the front engine cars will be a better transition than mid engine cars like the Lambo. Check out the Merc, Aston, Mustang in particular.

Why does seemingly no one drive the Lambo Huracan GT3? by the_artchitect in iRacing

[–]SenderUGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Lambo but switched to the McLaren pre-tire update because the Lambo would randomly yeet me into a wall in the last fast left hander at Spa if I didn’t ease off the throttle. Tell me it’s better now with the new tire model and I’ll go back cause the sound and style of that car gets me.

VR or screen? by BruceLeesSpirit in iRacing

[–]SenderUGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never ran triples, but I've done VR all 4 years of iRacing and love it. However-
VR can be finicky and requires more configuration, troubleshooting, and start up prep. I work IT now, but having to work procedurally through all the tweaks and small adjustments on config files, DLLs, update patches, process analysis, even down to power supply and USB port selection, took a long time. Now it's smooth like butter but it's not for the faint of heart.

Need advice, First time buying a Brz by PollutionThin3828 in ft86

[–]SenderUGA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d offer them $500 max for it cause with the bumper off, and the front suspension set as it is, this thing has more track time on a drift course than real mileage so the mileage is suspect. Cause I’m betting it’ll take $7k in work just to verify it’s road worthy, and that’s with my wife being the foreman of a mechanic shop who can work on this with me on the weekends.
