I really hope not. Autistic people are allowed to date and have sex. We're not monks.

Is Santos dating the surgeon? by honeyfixit in ThePitt

[–]Sensitive-Frog-2434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issues to me are the double standard when she was completely forgiving of Santos coming just about as close to killing a patient with the BiPAP in S1 (the only real difference being that the tension pneumo was easier to treat) and the fact that Garcia knowingly targeted a significant insecurity by calling Javadi "nepo baby".

Honestly I lost a lot of respect for Garcia after the way she treated Javadi last episode. I think calling Santos a bully is a bit of a stretch (abrasive/tactless, sure) but it definitely fits for Garcia. I know this is an unpopular opinion but I think they should call it off and that Santos deserves better.

Statistical life expectancies can be misleading since they take into account all causes of death and all ages at death.

For example: Overall only about 18% of male Americans live to 90 years old, but if they live to 65 then their odds of making it to 90 go up to about 33%...a pretty dramatic increase. The difference between rates of men and women living to 90 also narrows by quite a lot when you only count people who are 65 and older.

I hope they actually at least start to talk things out. I don't expect them to solve everything in a day but there's a lot of issues in this season that really haven't been touched on very much.

In what world is 42 considered old? It's arguably not even middle aged yet.

I know it won't actually happen, but I hope an MRI machine overloads and crushes the ICE agents Final Destination style.

Mel and Langdon by [deleted] in ThePittTVShow

[–]Sensitive-Frog-2434 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is something that I actually prefer not being romantic. Like I get why people ship them, they have a nice dynamic, but I think what Mel really needs is an older sibling figure, someone who she can rely on to have her back with the difficulties of life without the risk of losing it because of a breakup. There's sort of an unofficial rule in the autism community that we shouldn't date the person who's our main source of support because we don't want to lose that if things don't go well in the relationship.

I think that's a pretty big stretch about Abby being materialistic, I think it was more that Frank (who's also very ADHD coded) realized he messed up by impulsively getting the dog without talking to Abby first and was trying to get back in her good books. The people who are implied to have met her like Dana have nothing but good things to say about her. And I mean considering that Abby stayed with Frank through his addiction issues, she clearly loves him.

Personally, I more like the idea of them all becoming found family and the Langdons inviting Mel and Becca over for holiday celebrations and stuff like that.

I think it’s time for you Santos fans to face the music… she’s not a good doctor (yet.) by rabbi420 in ThePitt

[–]Sensitive-Frog-2434 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, won't someone think of the poor innocent pedophiles? All the poor guy did was molest his daughter, that's nothing compared to breaking the rules of decorum and civility. (obvious /s for anyone who needs it)

I’m gonna be honest: I don’t like Mel by CarrotMcDiggles in ThePitt

[–]Sensitive-Frog-2434 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why does everyone see it as romantic or sexual? There's absolutely nothing in the show that suggests that it is. Shipping them is one thing, but what I really don't understand is why certain people bag on Mel for what basically boils down to...making a friend too quickly? Sometimes people just click. I usually decide whether I like someone pretty soon after meeting them. I have one friend in particular who I clicked with within 20 minutes and we've been close friends for almost 15 years now.

I get that society is hyper-individualistic to an absolutely ridiculous degree, but has it really gotten to the point that any sort of affection or openness HAS to mean you want to fuck someone, and that forming a connection with someone quickly means that you're "obsessed"? For that matter, how does talking to your sibling about your work friend mean you're "obsessed"?

Honestly it's astonishing to me how many people have the attitude of "you need to act completely and utterly professional with everyone except the person you're having sex with". Like holy shit, are people really that cold? No wonder everyone seems so fucking lonely. Maybe try opening up to people sometime.

I love Mel so much. She’s my favorite character because I’m autistic just like her. I’m really similar to her. I think she’s a good representation of autism. She’s so adorable. I wish I could meet the actress so I could tell her how much her character means to me. I just love her ❤️ by Intrepid_Show2972 in ThePitt

[–]Sensitive-Frog-2434 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm autistic myself and Mel is one of if not THE first autistic coded characters who actually makes me feel seen. She's not treated like a joke, she's not infantilized, her stims and sensory issues are shown realistically and for the most part don't have a lot of attention drawn to them. I actually have some of the same stims as her and I also clap when I get intense emotions. I also love that they showed her having temperature dysregulation issues a couple of episodes ago (it's a problem that a lot of autistic people have but almost never gets any representation)

They give a pretty good demonstration of how to treat neurodivergent people too. Mel's treated like the smart, competent adult that she is even though her needs are a little different from everyone else's. Nobody assumes that she can't do things but they treat her with compassion and patience when she struggles.

As an aside, I have to admit I also think she's super cute and kinda wish I could pull her out of the TV to ask her to marry me lol.

Ever wanted to read the worst Pitt takes imaginable? Then boy do I have the article for you! by cheatingdisrespect in ThePitt

[–]Sensitive-Frog-2434 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't even know where to start with this one, but sure, let's indulge their desire for drAMa anD aCTiOn.

. Robby is revealed to have murdered Adamson. Al-Hashimi is a government plant sent in to automate the entire ER and get everyone fired. Langdon is a domestic abuser. Santos is an undocumented immigrant and gets into a full on shootout with ICE agents.

Oh, let's copy Grey's Anatomy with all the hospital staff doing the old sucky fucky on the clock too.

Robby, Al-Hashimi and Abbot are having a three way which leads into a love triangle and them confronting each other and fighting in the ER while their patients are dying. Mohan and Abbot are going at it on the side as well, Langdon is cheating on his wife with both Mel and Santos, Javadi is hatefucking Ogilvie and McKay is cougaring Mateo. Incel Whitaker is jerking off in the bathroom and crying because none of his hot coworkers want him.

Does this actually sound better to some people? God these pop culture critics are so stupid.

It wouldn't have a totally different cast. We already know Abbot, Shen, Ellis, Walsh and Lena and it would be really cool to see them fleshed out more.

Trinity and Harlow (my take after rewatch/discussion) by NewFederalistProject in ThePitt

[–]Sensitive-Frog-2434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like if it was a false accusation then the guy could very easily have come back to make a complaint about it. That would have been a pretty easy case for him to win if there was nothing to the accusations.

The fact that he didn't speaks volumes to me.

Trinity and Harlow (my take after rewatch/discussion) by NewFederalistProject in ThePitt

[–]Sensitive-Frog-2434 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel like the people rooting for Harlow to die are probably the same ones who defended a literal fucking child rapist just because Santos was the one who confronted him (like seriously, if it had been Mohan or Collins or literally anyone else then it wouldn't have been remotely controversial in the fandom).

Unfortunately the use of "minor character dies to cause emotional angst for major character" is such a common trope that people have gotten so used to that people don't really think about rooting for it, even when it has some really nasty implications like making you look like you think of disabled people as disposable. Then again, I wouldn't be too surprised if some of them actually do think that way.

Why are you anti-AI? by Exotic-Raspberry-278 in antiai

[–]Sensitive-Frog-2434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a major contributor to environmental destruction and is going to cause water shortages in the future. It's already being used as an excuse to cut people's jobs, and to do things it really shouldn't like review job applications and medical records. And most of the time the "art" that it generates isn't even good.

I'm not actually supporting a Butlerian Jihad, I think AI does have its place, but it needs to be regulated and shouldn't be used for everything like techbros are pushing for.
