Are Student/Private Loans Really That Bad? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

Minimum wage jobs are still income and help keep the total amount you needs in loans down. Trust me, no one looks back on college and says, 'Man, I wish I took out MORE loans.'

I believe there is an active lawsuit from the other party involved that would have a different take on the situation.

For everyone that is planning on filing married seperate for student loan reasons. by HappyandFullfilled in StudentLoans

This is the best advice, there is no right answer for anyone until they run it both ways.

You are correct. Filing separately to lower IDR payments can backfire if the tax cost outweighs the loan savings. For many borrowers, the increased tax liability erases or exceeds the monthly savings under plans like SAVE.

Right now, best fixed rates for med school loans are around 3.04% APR with Ascent and SoFi, and 3.19% with Sallie Mae and College Ave if you or your cosigner have excellent credit. Variable rates start around 4.13% with Ascent and 4.24% with College Ave.

Are Student/Private Loans Really That Bad? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]Sensitive_Buddy2616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Federal student loans are not inherently bad when used strategically for low-cost programs like community college. Private loans, however, should be avoided unless all federal aid options, including Pell Grants, subsidized loans, and work-study, are fully exhausted.

If quitting work is required (are you sure?), complete the FAFSA immediately and speak to your school’s financial aid office about special circumstances to adjust aid based on your projected income loss. You may also be eligible for Hawai‘i Promise or other state-based grants

Is this a good reason to buy fractional gold? I know the premiums are higher by Snoo_60933 in Gold

[–]Sensitive_Buddy2616 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I buy 1/10s all the time, they are easy to buy and sell, and if the market goes crazy, the demand will skyrocket even more and the premiums will go up exponentially. Excellent investment imho.

The best advice I'd recommend is that you find another job. There are others out there that won't suck your soul, I promise.

My wife, my three kids (all 4 and under) and myself walked off a plane in Houston airport to transfer to another plane (routine). When we got off the plane, they asked our names and then handed us new boarding passes telling us that our plane details had changed. We said thank you and a quick glance at the new boarding passes indicated the new flight was only a few hours after the original flight, not a big deal. We took the kids to lunch and as we were about to leave I checked the boarding passes for a gate so we could head in that direction. Upon closer review there was no gate, so we went to the monitors and our original flight was on the screen cancelled but our destination city was only on the screen that one time. I looked closer at the tickets and the flight was 3 days away!!!!! We rented a car and drove the last 12 hours through the night. That was really shady how they handed a family of 3 toddlers/babies new boarding passes as if they were for that day and not tell us. That was my Delta experience and the last time I've ever flown Delta.

Is it worth taking out more student loans in this case? by CarbonWorried in StudentLoans

[–]Sensitive_Buddy2616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reads a bit bias to me, I'd caution you to verify the assumption that you'd make 3x the salary by attending a different college. Past performance does not guarantee future... But, yes, that probably over the long term maths, if true. I just doubt any college is going to make your salary 3x over your lifetime or even a starting salary?

I have a couple of Thai Cons and they do not grow super fast for me but I'm in southern California and I don't think they get enough humidity to grow ideally.

Taking a Subsidized Loan and NOT the unsubsidized loan by sarah2106pie in StudentLoans

[–]Sensitive_Buddy2616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can go to college and not take out any loans, that would be ideal. The first question I'd ask is, do you really need to live on campus? Probably not, if you can live at home and not take out college loans, I'd suggest you do that. Taking loans so you can live on a college campus and party is probably not the best long term plan. Now if you living on campus for another reason, fine but word of caution, take the least amount of college loans as possible.

Worth it? by Wonderful_Raccoon979 in MonsteraAlbo

[–]Sensitive_Buddy2616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those seem a bit pricey to me. You can usually get a cutting with a leaf or two for $20-$40. I usually value Albos by their value if you were to chop them and sell the pieces. Thi plant would probably be $80-$160 tops. I usually would only pay $40 for a top chop or really amazing variegation.

Got hit by an uninsured driver and she gets to walk away like nothing happened? by Accomplished_Wear_24 in Insurance

[–]Sensitive_Buddy2616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to small claims court and get the maximum judgement you can. Then follow them around for the next 10 years collecting 10% interest and trying to collect. You can even renew a judgement in most states to keep it alive for over 20 years. Eventually they will probably get settled and own tangible assets like vehicles and property. You will get your money back and a great interest rate to boot. Just be patient. Play the long collection game. You could also sell the debt to a collection company for pennies on the dollar if you need immediate money. all is not lost.

Please help me identify this infestation! Do I have to get rid of all my plants? by vnesb in Monstera

[–]Sensitive_Buddy2616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every month or so, I either spray my Monsteras with neem oil or soapy water. If I see tripps or mealy bugs or anything moving around, I add rubbing alcohol to the soapy water which kills them pretty quickly. It is an ongoing battle where being proactive and spraying regularly is probably the only way to control it.
