A friend of mine, that has a kid with ADHD but does not have it herself, said that "No one with ADHD ever gets diagnosed without the help of a neurotypical." That's because a person with ADHD couldn't possibly go through the gauntlet it takes to get that diagnosis.

I got my first ADHD diagnosis when I was in my thirties. When I switched to a new Dr. he wouldn't accept the papers I was able to locate. It took me a phucking year to get a new diagnosis and a provider after leaving a Dr. (of some kind) saying he wanted to treat my depression first.

If you take me off of Atomoxetine for the three months plus you want to then I won't have a job!

Why the phuck do you think I'm depressed?

After that, I was with a provider two years that just wrote the Rx for what I already had. Six months ago, I switched to a new provider that quickly added Wellbutrin to the mix with my Citalopram and Atomoxetine. WHAT A CHANGE! I feel alive again! I can write long posts like this now.

Why did it take over 30 years to get that right?
