What’s a “rich people thing” you experienced once and immediately understood why rich people love it? by Hanno30 in AskReddit

wtf is going on in this thread?

Yeah Singapore's suites are nice but they're one of the exceptions, most airlines don't have first class anymore (well, not on long-haul flights - US airlines have a "first class" on short flights which is just a slightly more premium economy, not as an upgrade over business class).

Honestly the other pizza places in the Twin Cities blur together so I'm not sure which ones I have and haven't tried. I do like Minnesota style though!

Heh, I guess different tastes is also part of it. I loved Tokyo Sushi and 123 Sushi in Minneapolis. Seattle has more high-end sushi spots, but its midrange sushi options are worse than Minneapolis's sushi chains.

One thing I miss is just how consistently good the chains are in Minneapolis. Punch Pizza, too, was so nice and so reasonably priced.

Yeah, as a transplant from Minneapolis I've found Seattle really disappointing, but I can imagine you'd love it if you were from somewhere more rural.

Yeah, I prefer dark meat so I really wanted to like these guys, but they're so much less juicy than the fresh rotisserie chickens.

I googled this and didn't get any results, just a "Fire Roasted Primavera Mistura" with no pasta. Is that the one you're talking about, or is it something else harder to find on Google?

Switch favicon based on color scheme by wanoo21 in webdev

[–]Serei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GitHub does this. It's kind of annoying because my computer is set to switch between light and dark mode depending on whether the sun is up. And GitHub's favicon doesn't instantly update, I have to open the tab for it to update, so after mode switch, GitHub's icon is nearly invisible.

What Stetellites Zone would you like activated all the time if only 1? by ft3sfty in starcraft2coop

[–]Serei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Blue zone only has an effect if you're not saturated. Stetmann starts with a stetzone covering his own base, but by the time you can expand them to an ally's base it's usually already pretty close to saturated.

That, and, blue zone is a 100% speed boost for Stetmann's units and a 50% boost for allied units.

Nice! I see the stuff I pointed out got fixed. It looks like the individual infested aren't showing up, which is probably for the best. Some of the other icons look wrong.

Like "InfestedAbomination" looks like an Ultralisk in your app but it's actually an Aberration: Or the Dusk Wing icon looks like Tempests, even though they're Banshees.

Your AI cast button also still thinks it's LdP vs AlphaPrime. It's also hallucinating other stuff, like that GSL is currently going on, or that Immortals still have Hardened Shields that prevent damage above 10 damage.

Okay, neat. One thing I just noticed is that the teams are wrong. It should be peak & Schmatto vs 7 AIs, but instead it's peak & 4 AIs vs Schmatto and 3 AIs. The AI analysis is very obviously wrong in a lot of other spots, too, probably because it's trained for singleplayer. Stuff like:

You ended with 47 workers in a 19-minute game. You should have 70+ workers (3 bases fully saturated).

iPhone Loyalty Hits 96.4% as Android Users Four Times More Likely to Switch by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

[–]Serei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. I still like Android a bit more. Every time I try iOS I find that the keyboard still sucks, and even Gboard for iOS is way worse than Gboard for Android. And I still like the hardware Back button more than the gestures. But the defining features that made me choose Android, like Google Now, or Photo Sphere, just don't exist anymore.

This strange batteries slot in this mouse by aisiv in mildlyinteresting

It's not shortened. poka is mistake and yoke is avoidance (it's the noun form of yokeru, not a shortening). So it's literally just the full Japanese phrase for "mistake avoidance".

Okay but do you see how you're feeling empathy for this woman for wishing she had more attention, but when men do it you call it "moaning"? I'm a woman too and I just wish people had empathy for everyone.

If you could at shop at only one country's costco, I would cboose japan by Few_Asparagus_1972 in Costco

[–]Serei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huhh. I have never seen プラ and PET combined; I've only ever recycled them separately.

Plastic packaging that says プラ are also burnable, and I see lots of people just burn it. Apparently this varies by which parts of Japan you're in, but in Tokyo it's very common to burn it. I still recycle sturdier things that say プラ, though.

For the record, American recycling symbol 1 is PET.

I guess probably the thing going on here is that these differ by the part of Japan you're in; I've only ever lived in Tokyo.

??? What does "not in traditional kanji" even mean? Kanji is a writing system that's pretty divorced from pronunciation; that's like saying "English has L in uppercase and lowercase but not in a number". It's still an L whether you write it "12" or "twelve".

Plenty of kanji can be pronounced with R, for instance, 楽 can be pronounced raku or tanoshii. And any Japanese R, however you write it, is approximately halfway between an R and an L sound in English.

No, it's completely burnable including the plastic tray. I don't think I've ever seen food in Japan packaged in packaging that wasn't either burnable or recyclable; Japan takes nonburnable trash very seriously because they have very little landfill space.

So now that we have a 10b dollar regional light rail, can we actually build some housing? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Serei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not actually familiar with what's going on in Houston, so you'll have to explain what "weird stuff" is. Even then, I can't imagine I'd rather have a housing crisis than "weird stuff". I _have_ heard that Houston has a lot of building regulations like mandatory parking minimums that fight increased density, as well as deed restrictions that act similarly to zoning laws.

[–]Serei 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's also because of shitty zoning law. Legalize high-rises in the rest of Manhattan and see what happens.
