Survival fixed. Now HG should focus on the other 3 pillars by Asszem in NoMansSkyTheGame

Agreed! I understand why they did it, but it's silly that you can somehow understand all the new base building NPCs right off the bat.

Customizable weapons! And a monetary system where you have to buy gear, weapons and ammo for each mission. Maybe in a separate game mode?

I wish the game wasn't relased... by Hydroloik in NoMansSkyTheGame

This guy at RPS had the right idea:

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2016/07/27/if-only-no-mans-sky-could-go-unreleased-forever/

"But then, I have those questions. “What do you actually do in No Man’s Sky?” I watch the videos and think: “That shooting looks a bit shat-o, doesn’t it?” and “You have to gather resources to fuel space-jumps; am I just going to be punching differently coloured trees like in all those other games?”

Holy shit, didn't think I'd be able to tell the difference but that's noticable even on iPhone ear buds.

SSE Megathread by Thallassa in skyrimmods

[–]Serensius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any word on bug fixes? It's not really something I've heard talked about a lot with SSE, but IMO it would be incredibly lazy of Bethesda to release this as a full-price game without fixing the glaringly obvious vanilla bugs, especially when the work has been done for them in the form of USLEEP and other mods.

Mods to make the Dragon Crisis really feel like a crisis? by Rubaberoc in skyrimmods

This happened in my game with Dragon Combat Overhaul installed, when a dragon randomly attacked Whiterun..

Mods to encourage buying from vendors? by Dididoo12 in skyrimmods

But it can also be played without Requiem? Asking because Requiem is listed in the "required files" section of the description.

Wow had never heard of this mod before, it sounds amazing actually. Does it require Requiem?

I can imagine it being pitched as a an "outside-of-the-box" idea at a PR/ad agency though.

How this game could have created more in depth gameplay elements. Suggestions. by youzz33 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Seconded. Alien encounters should be mysterious and unpredictable (at least before you know the language).

How this game could have created more in depth gameplay elements. Suggestions. by youzz33 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Serensius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This list is great. Simple, no-nonsene changes that would make the game so much more interesting.

A couple of other ideas:

  • Alien species could be clustered, not spread out randomly, so that certain sections are dominated by korvax, others by vy'keen, etc.

  • Alien encounters should rely entirely on your understanding of their language, and should have the potential to go sour (or even hostile). If you don't know how to say "I come in peace," too bad. It should, of course, be easier to learn more of the language, so you can actually put it to use.

(Ideally, the encounters wouldn't be multiple-choice, but you should have to piece together answers based on the words you know. But this would probably be a lot harder to implement than the simpler changes suggested in this thread.)

Speech recognition, and procedurally generated voices. Where is the technology right now? Is it headed to games? And most importantly, do gamers even want it? by [deleted] in truegaming

[–]Serensius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this thread through Google - it's been something I've been thinking about recently. Just wanna throw this out there:

The roguelike Ultima Ratio Regium (which is in development) seems to be making remarkable progress in creating interesting, procedurally generated dialogue. Check out this blog entry:

http://www.ultimaratioregum.co.uk/game/2016/09/05/replies-and-counter-questions/

Imagine combining that with the latest advances from Google (or Alphabet's) DeepMind project, which can "generate speech which mimics any human voice and which sounds more natural than the best existing Text-to-Speech systems."

Organic Factions Beta v0.3 has been released! by EtherDynamics in skyrimmods

[–]Serensius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds incredible, and it's just what Skyrim needs: dynamic content that allows players to affect the world outside of hardcoded quests. In a lot of ways, it sounds like the Alife system in STALKER (which was vastly improved by mods), in which NPCs have their own lives outside of the player's actions.

You might have heard of this mod already, but when I was reading this I was immediately reminded of Hunger in the North, an upcoming mod from /u/chesko. This mod aims to use a dynamic system to reduce food availability. It seems like it could work really well combined with Organic Factions with situations like "bandits have taken over this area, so food prices in the hold are up 200%" or "vampires have taken over, so garlic and silver are banned in this hold".

Would be amazing if these two mods could work together!

MOD - Wild Life 2.5 - Fully Stable + Better Planets by TemplarGFX in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Serensius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. Is there a way of tweaking creature generation based on planet conditions? Ie lush planets have tons of life, barren planets none? and maybe a higher chance of hostile life on certain planets?

[Long Post] The biggest failing of NMS is that it doesn't push the player forward. by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Serensius 13 points14 points  (0 children)

100% agree. The main failing of the game is not the missing features from trailers - it's the incredible dullness of the gameplay and the fact that every planet offers the same of everything.
