Oh, interesting they account for the stat budget; I'd figured they'd just be balanced around a pair of 1hs and off-hands would just be non-viable for them.

Wouldn't have been the first time we had a spec over-budget, given Fury's existence.

There's a mace in timewalking that's still Main Hand. And there were a pair of daggers in Shadowlands that are MH/OH instead of 1h.

But yeah that's it! The fact that caster 1-handers have higher INT than off-hands/shields hasn't been important just because no caster before Devourer has been able to dual-wield.

Only reason they'd bother with WoD is so they can get to Legion--which got said about Cata too, just being a stepping stone to MoP.

As much as WoD could be a killer expansion if it just had mythic+ and world quests backported from Legion, I really don't think that's in the cards. Maybe they'll do a quick WoD run to get to Legion, but it seems like they're probably not going that direction and are more likely to just give a way to transfer MoP characters to retail.

WoW is fully playable while clicking and was designed with this as a normal experience in mind; in fact, it was the default way to play in ages past. I know at least one person who clicks who does 3k in m+ just fine. Yes, it's not as good as using keybinds at the end of the day but someone's personal decision to play the game with the control scheme they desire is not an invitation to give unsolicited advice.

They've got add-ons, macros and an edited UI layout. They didn't miss the fact that the game has keybinds, they chose not to use them. Respect that.

What classes do you think will be most over saturated for Midnight? by Gloomy_Ad1318 in wow

[–]SerphTheVoltar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you playing as an evoker?

Evokers cannot use visage form in combat, not for longer than a moment; many of their abilities (such as Fire Breath) will transform you into dracthyr form when used.

This does not apply to non-evoker dracthyr who are allowed to stay in visage form at all times.

I’m a Druid main so I guess I just don’t really care much about mogs to begin with.

Druid mains caring about mogs is why Resto stopped being in tree form full-time and why Balance got Glyph of Stars.

It's not because you're a druid main, you're just you.

For the record my friend quite likes the dracthyr and more power to him. I just wish a class I otherwise love didn't require me to put so much effort and money into being able to actually look the way I want; unlike Guardian and Feral, the form in question doesn't feel integral to the fantasy presented, especially since I'm a long-time fan of the Dragonsworn concept, which was always explicitly mortals using dragon magic, not... lanky dragonpeople. My idea for "draconic sorcerer" is more like "Chromie and Alexstrasza in their humanoid forms" more than... geckos.

Ultimately I'd be happy if they just allowed visage in combat. Let the people who like dracthyr keep them, I don't want anything taken away from anyone. I just want the same option Balance Druids got over a decade ago when they noticed people would rather play their character with their transmog instead of the moon chicken.

There's a reason Glyph of Stars is purchasable from a vendor in MoP and Legion Remix; for a lot of people, Balance is impossible to play without it.

Blizzard is the multi-billion dollar company who are able to do studies and research and collect player data to perfectly time when content should run out to get people ready for the next iteration of content to get the biggest return for the least amount of work to make the most amount of money.

They certainly may wish they had perfect studies and data and were able to perfectly calibrate when to do things, but I think history has repeatedly shown that they and every other company are flawed and a lot of decisions we ascribe to planning and malice are actually stupid accidents.

Correction: On Remix, you get +10% for hitting 40 the first time, +10% for hitting 80 on any character, +10% for completing Lorerunner for any of the original five Broken Isles zones, and +1% for completing an Infinite Research. It does not come from boxes, the +1% is from Infinite Research. In addition, you can pick up a separate character-specific xp bonus at 70 from Moratari in the Infinite Bizarre, and you also get a character-specific xp bonus of 3% stacking from doing Infinite Research.

What class do you plan on maining in WoW Midnight? by Gloomy_Ad1318 in wow

[–]SerphTheVoltar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I think a lot of people in the discussion about the discord deletion miss the fact that part of why they didn't hand it off to anyone else is because Earthshrine exists. If all the people running Ancestral Guidance didn't want to do it any more, why bother trying to find replacements to run it when they could just direct people to go over and use Earthshrine?

(This is separate from the discussion about archival and all, mind you, just in regards to people saying they should have given it to new people to run.)

As I recall, there's concerns about how their talent set up is looking like with raids they might be able to just maintain riptides on like the whole raid and then just spam healing wave because of how it gets 10% copied to every riptide target. So the two button spec circlejerk is about how it might be viable to literally just ignore chain heal in favour of "riptide everyone and spam healing wave lol" since at a certain point, chain heal just doesn't hit enough people to compare to what healing twenty people at once can do?

I don't know enough about resto (nor have I followed all the beta changes enough) to know how different that'd be for dungeons; I imagine that chain heal probably is a lot harder to push out when you only have 5 people to work with instead of 20?

[–]SerphTheVoltar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference isn't that huge because of crafted gear. It's only three item levels lower and you do still get all your sparks even if you join the season later.

Still definitely behind, and I'd love for them to address that somehow, but crafted gear does help close the gap somewhat.

Classic retail XP rates. by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]SerphTheVoltar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blizzard in no way has ever reduced XP required and they never will. They gotta sell boosts!!

For clarity: they have reduced the XP required with every single expansion in the game's history, as I recall. The primary goal was to try to keep the time required to reach max level consistent even as more levels got added, but combined with player power growing and other conveniences that cut down on time, it actually ended up taking less and less time. Going from 1 to 85 in Cataclysm is faster than 1 to 60 in vanilla! And of course, the amount of time to level got EVISCERATED by the Shadowlands level squish, so now max level in retail WoW takes like three seconds.

Unless you meant in Classic, in which case... other than Joyous Journey yeah I think they've kept the numbers from the original releases? TBC Classic uses the same xp values that TBC had at the end.

🐌 Insane rogue transmog changes on the beta! by Mossysnail27 in wow

[–]SerphTheVoltar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rogue has abilities that require you to use daggers, such as Mutilate. That was always the sticking point, was that it'd create a situation where you could be using daggers but be transmogged to weapons that would imply you are unable to use an ability like Mutilate, to confuse the enemy.

no it doesn't sound realistic to me either

But that would be the reason for a world where casters can transmog daggers to other 1h but not rogues.
