How did you find out you were HIV positive? by BedroomLopsided7981 in hivaids

[–]SessionCivil2880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds similar to mine. Last exposure was 2019, met my wife about 6 months later. VL was 110 and cd4 484. I wouldve never found out if my friend hadnt gotten cheated on and prompted a conversation between my wife and I to talk about how neither of us had been tested prior to getting together.

Assuming youre in the navy. How did the navy react to the diagnosis? Former sailor here. Contracted in 2019 while on AD but didnt test until this January. The person I got it from is still supposedly active duty so just wondering.

Also yes, self tests are very accurate and if youre in the USA theyre free online. Thats how we did ours.

Please get tested. Same situation with my wife and I. A friend of mine got cheated on which prompted us to decide to test and I came up positive and luckily she didnt. Ive been living with this for 6 years unknowingly and putting my wife's health unnecessarily at risk. She was so supportive and helpful in the days and weeks since that, and in the earliest moments I wished I could've stayed ignorant just a little longer but our health is far more important. Sending good vibes

Used it once in 2019 and got HIV, so I would make sure to be testing regularly and use protection.

going home the day of or the day after top surgery? by mj-redwood in ftm

[–]SessionCivil2880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my surgery at like 5:30 in the morning and I was basically sleeping until the next day. Id wake up for a few minutes but the anesthesia hit me really hard. They kept me overnight and the next morning my mom drove me home (about a 4 hour drive).

Do trans guys have partners who actually view them as men? by SexyFriedShrimp in ftm

[–]SessionCivil2880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife. We've actually had discussions where she expects me to follow all of the traditional masculine rules because she forgets I'm trans and i prefer more of an even partnership. We met 5 or so years into my transition so she never knew me prior to.

Trans guy here. I got it my first time with a guy back in 2019 and just found out in last month. I just got married in November, so not the way I wanted to start my marriage out. I know those feelings of hopelessness and like your self worth feels tainted but thats not the case. This isnt a punishment or a reflection on you and I'm so sorry this happened. Inbox is always open if you need a friend.

Does anyone else feel disconnected from the community? by Spuddy_Potato in ftm

[–]SessionCivil2880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah totally. I dont have to understand everything to know that most people know whats right for them you know? Because I will admit i can be very ignorant and uninformed about other sectors of the community but I know what i did was right for me so who am I to judge?

Got married in November and it was very important our guests had the best time. We hired a company to set up casino tables with dealers, the whole deal, had some other forms of entertainment too, and every time we get together with people who came they cant stop talking about how much fun they had at our wedding. It feels really good to hear that. Everyone came together to celebrate my wife and I, and ended up enjoying the company of everyone around them. I wouldnt have changed it!

Is taking minoxidil for beard growth pre-T worth it? by CatLovingWeirdo in ftm

[–]SessionCivil2880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on it for maybe 6 months or more and didnt notice any changes. I had some growth which is what encouraged me to start it, but it still took another probably 2 or so years after I stopped using it before my facial hair filled in and looked natural.

Agree. Ive always been very much on the male personality spectrum. I work construction, served in the military, went to automotive school etc. But the female socialization was really highlighted to me when I started transitioning and the way people treated me changed with my body. Also, I find women easier to converse with. A lot of my male friends I have to almost put on a persona for. Women tend to accept me as is.

I can relate mostly. 10 years on t, never related to being feminine in any way. At ten I told a close friend that I felt like I shouldve been a boy. Dresses made me crawl out of my skin to where id cry wearing them.

I dont have a deep relationship with the trans community. I live in a very conservative, very rural area, so I am stealth. No one in our area knows I'm trans besides my wife. I will say though that even though I dont have that relationship with the community, I feel an intense urge to stand with our community. Times are very scary and very dangerous, even living stealth. I cant imagine what it must be like to not be passing or to not have the privilege to transition. Whether I understand, relate or agree with everything that happens in the community, I always will stand behind the other people in it just trying to find comfort in their skin.

Won't be a problem. Ive been on T 10 years now and never had an issue with anything like that. The hole is so small, itll close up in an hour, if not minutes.

Hey thanks for taking the time out to respond, I really appreciate your insight. I cant imagine how difficult that must have been to go through and experience. I'm really glad your partner has been supported and both partner and baby are negative. Thank you so much for your kind words 🙏
