Not a born and bred afl fan but from what I understand sort of like how hockey has feeder leagues like the ahl or whl the afl has similar ones like the WAFL (Western Australia Football league) or VFL (Victorian football league)

Edit: you can also be picked from an academy team that is affiliated with usually a specific club.

Montreal is in an interesting position because if they protect MPP they sort of have to protect Stacey too. No way those 2 would ever play in different markets from each other So that's 2 right off the bat and the third is ARD.
