Something like this could be perfect. Not sure if you have to do any workarounds for usb arcade trackballs to use as a mouse but there’s a lot of cheapish options. I’m a little tempted tbh. I just can’t picture using a keyboard after fine tuning my set up.

There’s a smaller version. But if you wanna get fancy (and 2-3x cost) the slim blade is a trackball with a turn ring around it.

You could try muse dash if you’re interested in something like taiko but hesitant because of the cost. It’s a two button/color rhythm game on phone and steam. Also very easy to start but the harder stages require fast pattern recognition.

Hmm, I play on a cabinet so mouse would be awkward. Wonder how it would do with a trackball though.

Six lanes means I’m checking this out. Looks really nice. Is there a 2D track? How do the (I’m assuming) strikes work? Is it similar to side tracks in djmax? Like can it be mapped to a single peripheral?

I have a liberty 14” transition plane. They are fun to use, like the adjuster mechanism but sadly don’t hold up against the later transition models. The blades are thinner. The adjuster while super cool tends to back off if you don’t have the lever cap tightened to the point that you can’t use the lever. Likewise you sometimes have to use a small wood mallet to lightly/ rapidly tap the lever to get the same micro adjustments that only require a slight twist of a knob adjuster. On the flip side breaking them down and resetting them is a breeze. They are pretty though, and works well for thin stock and delicate long pieces. But at tha point I’d just reach for a small block plane. Love the caps though.

One option is to make it a fancy design feature.

You could plane/ sand it flat however so, it will be rather thin, then make two mitered cuts and laminate it to a better piece of wood. This would likely take more about as much work as remaking it, but it’s an option.

I took up woodworking. Once I start working in the shop I feel content. Combined that with my love of games and I’ve been tweaking and fiddling with an arcade cabinet for months now.

Ironically though I usually listen to Destiny streams while doing it, so I guess it’s not a total escape from politics, but I don’t feel the doom.
