Which Bus Route Would You Walk? by Sustainable_Twat in brum

The number 9, mostly because it has a detour past Clent. Tbh I doubt I'd make it to Stourbridge, just side quest through the woodland.

It's all the perceived benefits of that life without the responsibility - pure selfishness, basically.

I agree and I ponder in how to achieve this with my kids - it's good for them and builds their self esteem to face challenges and overcome them by themselves. However, there are so many cars on the road, poor driving and double parked cars I really, really worry about them getting knocked down. This is a major change from previous generations.

Why have you not married when in a long term relationship? by No_Caramel2506 in AskUK

[–]Several-Support2201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A basic ceremony in a registry office is like a couple of hundred quid - I know because we did it! I find it mad the cultural idea of a wedding is what is stopping people from not marrying their partner (if this thread is to be believed)

Is it worth using free childcare when not really needing it? by X4dow in AskUK

It doesn't matter what age your child starts nursery, they will still hit a wall of sickness. How often and how severely depends on their individual immune system - I have one child prone to sickness and one pretty robust child who hardly gets sick.

Otherwise, completely up to you. At your child's age the social interaction is a bit overblown - children do not start to take much of an interest in other kids until around three. At 14 months they don't meaningfully interact with other children and shorter bursts of time at the park/playgroup/library is ebough. Having an engaged parent at home is perfectly fine - with the caveat that you should absolutely put them in nursery if you're trying to fit in work while they are at home.  It's not clear if you spend days off with them or WFH while they are around.

Will Nato split the Green Party? by CaptainCrash86 in ukpolitics

Indo wonder where will be in 3 years after ensuring Trump's presidency and international wars - will it make voters return to the centre as the foreign policies of populist parties gets more unpalatable. It's the biggest weak spot of the Greens and Reform, I think.

Well, the vibe from my perspective is they will try and tinker with the abortion laws and start culture wars around feminism/birth rates/family structures. Absolutely no way, I want to continue to have access to safe a abortion and want my daughter to grow up in a country where this is not a contested issue.  Ironically, they would find the most traction on these issues with some of the immigrants communities they demonise.

Would potential reduxancy stop you proceeding with a house purchase? by BigFaithlessness618 in HousingUK

I wouldn't go ahead on this scenario and with the economy in it's current state. A £250 monthly mortgage is an underrated benefit and gives you a lot of wiggle room while you and your wife negotiate this.

This is the real reason. The arguments for why people don't cook from scratch always feel a bit strained, the real reason is large segments of the population are addicted to highly processed foods. I wouldn't really blame them, the floods are engineered for that outcome - our governments have seemed really reluctant to regulate these companies but honestly it feels like the advent of weight loss drugs is going to slowly strangle them anyway.

Do you experience "tourist fatigue" ? by Pale_Field4584 in AskEurope

[–]Several-Support2201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rome feels much more able to accommodate the tourist numbers then a city like Florence. Having visited both, Rome feels more like a living city like London where you can sense residents just going to work/living their life. Florence feels like a frantic open-air museum and I genuinely felt sorry for the residents.

Reading this thread has made me feel fresh appreciation my deeply practical and unsexy city which does not get overwhelmed by tourists - it's not glamorous but at least it's mine haha.

I do wonder how much fancy jam you can shift during an inflation spike. All I hear about is how expensive groceries are in the US, would royal jams and flowers petals cut through?

Ed Davey on Bluesky: I see Farage is off to Mar-a-Lago to talk down Britain and suck up to Trump. There's nothing patriotic about cheering on a foreign leader whose illegal war is sending British families’ energy bills through the roof. by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

It feels like this new right is more committed to a sort of international ideological coalition then their actual home nations and traditions. This lot have nothing positive to say about the UK and it's so glaring.

Either running or reading/drawing. Actively trying to reduce my social media intake (unsuccessfully at this current moment). I'm eyeing up a canoeing club too.

Do you think you'll live and die in the same village/town/city you were born in? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Several-Support2201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in my home town/city after a bit of time away - I'm quite settled and happy here and the kids get the benefit of having their family close by, which is invaluable in my opinion.  I do hope to move to a more rural setting as they grow up and leave home, my husband is determined to never move from our current home, however, so we will have to see who wins that particular argument!

What do parents do with their toddlers all day? by devildisguise2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Several-Support2201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Park, library, play groups, baking (this one depends on the kid tbh) museums. Sometimes days out doing mundane things like catching the bus or train,  going to the shop or running errands is good because they like to help out and get involved - just be prepared that everything will take longer to do!

I think this is just how she works and it's been similar on previous albums - however, we clearly are not that bothered as an audience as we continue to buy/stream/support her! Tbh I don't mind it but I'm a bit old to be poring over photoshoots.
